Gauge Cluster - Deal or Dud?

So I took my son out rambling in local junkyard for some Buick items, and happened upon an '89 Turbo Sunbird. I got the gauge cluster for $75. It looks the same as in my Ty, is it? Will it also work in our trucks? What other parts should I go swipe before they crush it? I thought about getting the whole car if I could get it cheap enough, it has a nasty hit on driver rear qtr panel, but it is a convertible :) Would make a nice 1st car for my son in a few more years

I bought some Sunbird gagues hoping they would work. The problem was the orange plastic pieces vs the green on my Ty. You may want all orange (may haave been red at one time). The movements work OK. I use the parts to repair.

Hope this helps.

I'd buy it just on the fact that its hard to find car. My friend had one, it was a fast for what it was. This is the first convertable I've heard of, didn't know they made them.

From what I understand the convertible Turbo Sunbird GT version was a rarer car. Most convertibles had the SE trim, as this one does, but it also has the trubo emblems. Motor is still in it, the gauge cluster shows 189,.000. The wreck must have been what took it out, but looks fixable, compared to what my GN looked like before I fixed it

I think George Blake said that that tach won't work correctly since the Sunbird is a 4 cyl.

Yeah. The tach is different. I pulled a cluster out of a 3.1 liter V6 and it worked like a charm. The speedo was an 100 MPH speedo. DON'T get rid of that. If you ever do the gauge faces I do or the overlays that are available, they 100 MPH speedo will work PERFECTLY. You'll have to pull the stock 100MPH film off and put the new film on. The speedo is driven by the drac so it will be fine.

The other thing is the film where the turn signals and stuff is. The syty has a unique film in there. The check engine and stuff is in different places. You can pull the film out of a syty cluster and pop in right in. The clusters are kinda fun to work on if your patient.
