MSD 6al install

OK folks, I'm gonna install a MSD 6al. Prolly build my own wiring harness (the MSD harness looks to short to do much with). I've heard that I have to careful with wiring and location because of false triggering the box. So looking for suggested install locations, hints etc.

i am getting ready to install a 6al also.i have been told there is room inside the console between the front seats,away from engine bay heat.thats where im thinkin.fwiw.....

Ya, I've that before also. Get the thing out of the eng compartment. Just what I need more wires running through the firewall.:rant: :rotf:

Don, When I installed mine I was able to mount the MSD 6al over by the battery inside the fender using the stock harness and the wiring harness adapter MSD-8876. I have a picture that I can post on Monday.

i put mine here, seem'd pretty simple install with the adapter harness

I installed mine in the empty space where my abs was, mounted it with the rubber shock mount and harness kit

mine is inside the fender behind the coolant overflow bottle, out of site!

Don there a delay on the picture, I can't find it. So I decided to take a new picture with the new camera, But the new camera won't work with this old computer (500 pen) :rant: . So thinking I got it cover I grab the other new camera that 3 years old and never used, only to find that the instructions are missing along with the cable for the computer:rant: . I have my sweethheart looking for them because she was using it last.:rotf: So to make a long post even longer I going to borrow the work camera tomorrow and get the pictures for you. I'm really sorry. To tell you how I mounted it goes like this. On my truck I have the Kenny-Bell Ram Air kit installed, With this kit comes block off plates for the pass fender. On the big one that is partially block by the battery I mounted the MSD 6A so it is inside the fender. I then ran the wires inside the fender to the back by the antenna, up over the A/C and Heater stuff,and using the harness adapter MSD-8876, made all the connections. It is out of site so most people don't even think about.:tup:

Don, Here you go in the 1st picture you will see the plate the MSD is mounted on.

In the next picture shows the wires coming out by the antenna. I tape the wire harness together. In the next month I will be relocating the wires to following the factory harness that you can see by the A/C relay.

Please forgive me as the truck is dirty right now as I have been working on my daughter's truck. Once again I sorry it took so long to get these for you.

i have it on the firewall just above the passenger valve cover to the right of the distributor cap. i read the msd website and you don't need to worry about moisture because the capisitors are sealed in a waxy substanace but you do have to worry about how you mount it (right side up)because there are vent holes to let the 6a dry itself out. i read on the site,DO NOT SILICONE SEAL THE UNIT. you might think you are keeping the moisture out but you are actually sealing it in(it needs to breathe)try to keepit away from direct heat or moisture. good luck
