Opinons on next mods, current potential

Hi,

I have the opportunity to purchase a syclone with the following mods:

Stock turbo
Forged KB pistons
Eagle Rods
Cleavite bearings
New BTE racing heads
KB 8073 cam
KB Stage one kit
Walbro pump
Plug wires
Distributor cap
Custom cat back exhaust

WHat do you guys think? I drove it and it felt strong. Let me know what you think, and what you think the next steps in modding this should be. Thanks in advance.

The vehicle has 21500 miles. You figure the tranny is the weak link? How much power would it be putting down now? I had a stage 3 srt4 with 380fwhp before, and it felt much faster that this truck. You figure a big turbo and meth would wake it up?

Get rid of the KB chip before you detonate it to pieces.

Generally, what you have should run low 12s if it's tuned properly. Right now, it isn't tuned properly.

The best thing to do would be to drive it 3 hours north to Edmonton, and let Nolan put a good tune into it.

You will grenade the trans eventually...

What is the deal with these KB chips? I've read alot of bad things about them.

My old SRT4 ran low 12's at 118mph, and felt way faster than this. If I get it, I'll upgrade the tranny, turbo, and H2o injection. Does it seem like a good base to work from, or should I let it pass?

I think you need to do a lot more reading these truck. They aren't something you bolt some mods and go. I would guess your truck doesn't feel all that fast compare to your SRT4 is because it isn't anywhere to close to that. It probably run stock times, mid 13@100mph.

I agree, I do, I've always liked syclones, and with this opportunity, I wanted to draw upon your experience to get an idea of where this truck is at right now, and if it is worth going for. I realize you can't just bolt on parts, but would like to build a semi daily driver and weekend drag-truck. any other feedback on this particular truck, and it's mods?

Like Dave said you have some reading to do.

Take things slow, do your research and don't plan to race from stoplight to stoplight yet. These trucks are a lot of work to get dialed in, but that is the fun of owning one. If you don't like the tuning side of things you are buying the wrong vehicle.

As Dig said that KB chip is a good map to a new motor. I would assume your truck is so far out of tune it might even be a 14 sec truck.

My honest feedback is that someone starting doingh the KB mods blew it up due to the KaBoom chip and rebuilt it. One one gooing thing is you have built up short block for later mods vs a stock short block and its weak internals. Everything else is nothing to write home about.

That's kinda what I thought. I'm not sure about the cam, or the heads. Anyone heard of these before, would I be better off getting rid of them and starting from scratch?

Hard to say on the heads, since it sounds like a local thing. Could be either really good, or really bad... seen a fair amount of screwed-up ported heads.

There's really nothing wrong with the cam though, they generally weren't that radical of a cam.

If the motor was done properly it's a good place to start. If not, you'll have nothing but headaches.

Check the classified section.... there are a number of already-built trucks for sale that are quite reasonable. A one-way plane ticket to pick up a truck is much cheaper than having to fix something that has lots of problems.
