Forgive me as I am turbo buick racer/owner. I was wondering what is the block and specs the high horsepower sy/ty's run? Such as part number, where to buy, etc. I have a project that I would like to put the larger 4.3 platform in rather than my anemic 3.8. Thanks for the help.

duttwieller makes more power with his 3.8's then any of us have with our 4.3's so i dont know why you'd swap out the buick for a chevy. :) PLus you can still buy new buick parts whereas all the chevy 90 deg stuff is discontinued.

Um... Yea.. What Ghetto said....

I've built both 4.3's and alot of Turbo Buicks.. I've got alot more faith in the Buick setup than the 4.3L anyday.
Depending on what your building the newer generation 2 FWD blocks/heads are alot more avalible and can make just as much power as the GN engines. Pick up a GTP setup out of a Grand Prix.
Pull out the guts of the stupidcharger and make a block off plate. Re-route your exhaust to a turbo
And make some good power.
(local guy with stock GTP engine was mid 11's) in 04GTP. EFI Live for tuning.
Like I said... It'd be easier if I knew what project your working on but that's a good alternitive.

know of any cheapo 3.8 motors? engine management would probably be a pain though.

There's a guy on here or on Turbo Buick that's got a 2wd blazer that's got a 3.8L in it. I don't think it's running yet but it was getting close! That'd be a fun Daily driver!

There's a guy over in Ohio that sells alot of newer 3.8L (series2) supercharged with transmission,computer wire harness everything you'd need. You'd need to make a adaptor plate or find someone who makes it to bolt up to a 200R4 or 700R4 or what ever you've got in mind for it.

nah talk to Don he has a few... only one I know of was pulled from a wrecked 87 with 16k on the motor.. guy has complete motor from top to bottom, exhuast, wiring, computer, trans, and rear but wants like 4k last I checked with him.

Looks like uncle "Hack" got on that one... yikes.

Never seen that before. I hope it was a regular blazer and someone wanted to make a misfit. I'm guessing that's the case since there appears to be cladding missing in several spots.

interesting.. I wasn't really considering this type of swap.. i like the 4.3..
but it would be interesting to throw a built 3.8 into a sy..

You would be the only buick powered syclone i've ever heard of short of the concept truck

same here.. it would still be a turbo v6 too.. but i'd like to get my syclone done within a year or two, swapping a 3.8 would put me back quite a bit.

I Can help you with that kind of swap... on one condition.. You have to run a 5" downpipe LOL!

All joking aside.... If you decide to go that way I could guide you through it or help get it done.

Several Hybrids have been through my place.
87 Mustang LX 3.8L
86 Camaro (mine) 3.8L
89 Camaro 3.8L
77 Buick Skyhawk (current customer project)

It's a heck of a decision though.... It'd be fun!

I am pretty sure their have been Turbo Regals running 749's (I am 99.9% sure Bruce Plecan did one). I am not sure of the difficultly of the conversion though.

I did it with Bruces help. I have wiring diagram and code59 could be used.
