Stock dyno numbers

Finally dynoed my latest Syclone. Old lady really did own it. Never had a tune up ever. Just oil changes. 66,000 miles. I did plugs, cap, rotor, fluids, IC pump, stat. Thinking the converter is plugged. Boost won't hold constant on the dyno. Hits 12 thne drops to 8 then climbs back up through the gear. Really feels restricted.
Made a low 246hp and 357tq to the wheels on a Mustang AWD dyno. Going to take the cat off and dyno it again. Then test out the pile of chips I have had for years. Before burning some new units. :D

You are missing about 50 HP, my cat was clogged, never went above 9psi. Could have a vacuum leak? Check the wastegate and actuator hoses. Any data master files?

i would datalog it first, before you change anything, dropping boost could also be knock, and your ECM tells your boost solenoid to give base boost (8 psi or so). it would be a shame to blow it up.

You need to change your name to Syclone4 now. Where do they have a AWD dyno in Vegas??

By the Fiesta in Henderson. All the vac lines are good. I did have to replace the lines for the boost solenoid. Its not going to blow up. Had the wideband on it and was watching that and the map sensor on the dyno, on the computer screen during the runs. No datalogs. Mustang Dyno rep was here and we uploaded the newest software. Used the Syclone to test out a lot of functions.
Judging by the amount of crap that came out the exhaust on the first run. Can only imagine how much shit is plugged on the other side of the converter. Betting this truck has not seen WOT in so many years. Perhaps when it was in the dealer from time to time to get parts replaced under warranty. Truck was so original. On its second set of Firehawks!!!!
Busy with the dyno the next week. When caught up will simply take the cat off. Having a hard time finding an exhaust end to make my test pipe with. In Michigan never had problems getting exhaust pieces. I also want to unhook the actuator and see if the swing valve is free.
My guess is once I get it all straightend out. Maybe as high as 275 to the wheels on stock boost but with a test pipe. I have another Syclone that is all stock I might try on the dyno later this fall. But it does have a supposed rebuilt stock engine and turbo. Seems to run really strong though. Lot better than this truck.

Ya gret idea yank a cat and make your boost control issues 10 times worse. you should be trying to fix the problems you have before making new ones.

I don't think I will post anymore info on the Sy/Ty site anymore. And for anyone that was reading. The converter was plugged. Removing it solved the exhaust restriction problem. Sorry I don't have another stock converter to put back on at the moment. Without taking it off another truck. Boost hits 15 psi now will hold it for a whole dyno run. But then again. What good is a dyno, other than to be used as a tuning device. Peace out.

Re: Stock dyno numbers

On a stock truck , its not recommended to drive it around without the cat , dyno sessions included. I get that the cat was plugged , but one good boost spike is all it takes . If you flat out hate the cat and wont put on another , get different wastegate setup, the stock one is marginal at best .
