I believe the vehicle has to be 20 years old to be eligible for collector plates.

OH can get them.

In MO its gotta be 25 yers old for "historic" plates.

Each state will have its own definition.

Well I gave them documentation of it being a limited production vehicle with info I found online, you can't do that. So I called Columbus and had them look it up in their books and they found it in there. The Ty shouldn't be an issue, but you'll probably have to call them and explain why. (limited edition, less than 20k made yada yada)

Re: collector plates

i havent been able to get collector plates, in Jersey its only got 25 year or older or Hot rods like made in the 20s. I got collector inspection sticker and follow those restrictions, but no special plates for it. I think OHIO you have to show limited production and have at least on regular daily driver to qualify to have them

Yeop, I think I recall that, can't be your daily driver.

It's about time you got collector plates, I didn't think that you were ever going to get them ! I have had them on my truck for over six years now. As mentioned by Daron, I am one of the lucky ones that lives in a county with e-screw er, e-check. Collector status makes me exempt from emissions and I never have to deal with it again EVER.

There are two publications that the BMV references, the 4th Edition Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975 (Krause Publications). Or The New Complete Book of Collectible Cars 1930-1990 (Consumer Guide). They also reference the National Automobile Dealers Association Classic, Collectible and Special Interest Car Appraisal Guide if the vehicle in question isn't covered in the other two.

I submitted copies of magazines articles that I got off of the Sportmachines magazine rack vouching for the trucks limited production. As well as information off of syty.org. Ed O'Rourke can set you up with a COA if you don't have one for your truck too.

Yes, your collector vehicle CAN NOT be your daily driver. You will have to give the plate number of your daily driven vehicle on your application as well as when you renew your registration to prove that it isn't.

No problem :). Also, you can't just go to any ol' BMV to renew your registration... Payment MUST be sent to the main office in Columbus for collector's plates FWIW.

Don't get me started how I had to pay my registration twice in one year once ( $180.00 for my syclone) because the BMV doesn't pro rate registration :(.
