Rebuild Startup

Aeroking

e.i.
I'm in the process of rebuilding my motor. I plan on running different injectors when i'm done.

My question being... when i put everything back together, should i install the stock injectors, and set/tweak the truck back to a running condition... then put in the bigger injectors.

or can i put in the bigger injectors, and run 65 pounders on a stock chip??

* all this before retuning for the 65 injectors *

Re: Rebuild Startup

when i rebuilt i started out w/ 50# on a very rich 50# chip. I personally would just start off w/ the 65#ers, rather than r&r everything.

You definately can't run the stock chip w/ 65# injectors. I would either run stock chip/stock injectors or 65# injector with the 65# code & $59 65# base bin (should get the truck start)

Re: Rebuild Startup

I'd run a stock chip and stock injectors to break-in.
Break in by varying engine speed a lot... no steady-state.
Keep boost low during break in, but don't be afraid of getting into some (<10) boost.
(Unless you have a really large turbo/cam, such that it will go really lean)

You can do injectors later (<2hr job)
.

Listen to Dig and Dave. I doubt that it will even fire up on a stock bin & 65's. If it does actually fire and idle, it will surly kill the plugs (many sets if you keep changing them) and the excess fuel will "wash" the cylinder walls. Not good for break in..... at all.

Re: Rebuild Startup

Start it up with the 65# injectors and 65# chip. With the cam and head changes you are doing the stock injector/chip combo is going to be way off.

i'm leaning towards code 59, so i won't have a 65lb chip, unless i borrow one for startup/break-in, and then switch it out for the emulator.

If you get a bin you want to try, I'll burn it for you.

Re: Rebuild Startup

I would be ok doing it if you have done some tuning before and have the tools ready. If your new to tuning then do what dig said.

If you don't have a emulator, do what dig said.

There is a nice 60/65 base bin for code59, but that doesn't say you won't need to make changes.

I just fired up my V8 on code59, actually at nats. 84# injectors, used the 60# base bin. I was ready with keyboard/tunerpro to adjust the fuel very quickly to get it close and spent a good amount of time making sure valves were adjusted, everything was ready and had extra eyes watching.

Re: Rebuild Startup

what's the going rate on a custom burned chip?? (PM me with a price)

I've never tuned anything before. so a custom chip would be better than running it myself. i just thought that for the money, Code $59 would be the way to go.
