Just got my ALDL cable !!!!

What is the best software package to download / use for scanning?

I intend on eventually doing the Ostrich and a WB but just looking to scan to make sure she isn't blowing up or diagnose some things.

Waiting on my chip from Mr. Waller to be calibrated to the new setup so I have a starting point that is close.

Start off with DataMaster.... is a lot of fun! :D

ultimate noob question. where the hell do i find datamaster? i tried searching, and i get peoples datalogs looking for help.

Couldnt you just use ScannerPro with the ALDL cable as well ? Certainly a lot cheaper =) Grant you its in beta, but it seems to work pretty well for me so far.

Scanner Pro is nice for while your driving kind of stuff I think but Datamaster is way better if you wnat to go run then go back and look at data and take your time figuring out problems.

I would recommend Tuner Pro R/T or Data Master. IMO Tuner Pro has the the edge due to constant update's and the fella who does it is a real gearhead not just a company that want's to make money but that's just my personal :2cents:. BTW when was the last rev. / update for DM, just courious?

I dont think DM needs updates since they are only a loggin tool . TP coems out with updates because things are always being discovered and there is always room to improve. If you use DM just for logging you really cant go wrong. I like DM because it organizes the data better, what I usually do is log a run wheather it be 1/4 or a funny peak or valley in my AFRs in any gived moment, then Ill pop open Tuner Pro, match up the trouble areas in DM and make my changes accordingly in TP. If you use Tuner Pro's logger you have to export to CSV and there a shit load of logs for even smaller runs. Also, I always end up having to minimize a lot of that data columns to get the important stuff so I can see it on one page, that is just frustrating to me.
