How often do people get taken IE 11 sec ty.

Hey all soon to be owner,

After reading the forum about the sale gone bad for James (11 sec ty), I was wondering, how often do people get taken? Is there a place on this site to report bad transactions? How do you know who you can trust? I have only felt good vibes, until now. Am I wrong to think that 99% of you are good natured? Oh well, let me know what you think. Sorry to hear of your BS deal James, good luck on getting your delivery money back.

Later,
steve

Man, now I see crap about a rim sale gone bad. Maybe it's just weird that they both got posted one after another, but damn. I guess it pays to CYA and take tons of pictures and try and have buyers pick up at your place.

I think there is a "doghouse" they put people in that have a bad rep. You can check it to see if the person selling is reputable.

ps; trying to go see the truck tomorrow.

Re: How often do people get taken IE 11 sec ty.

If you pay with a credit card through paypal and the deal falls through, the postage would be the only thing you would lose..Better than losing everything i guess. But, i know the buyer shouldn't lose that either. Its too bad that 11 sec didnt go through with the parcel insurance procedures. Or did he? Thats why communication is the key to any successful transaction. The buyer and seller need to communicate until both parties are happy all the way til the end. It seems like thats the problem ... No Damn communication. I would be pissed off too if someone didn't respond to my emails. Its happened to me lots of times.. days and days of waiting. Its ridiculous. I check my email numerous times throughout the day. I guess some dont.. i dont get it.

I hear you, I check my email at least a few times a day. It is weird how people now a days are not with the times. Email and voicemail are almost crucial to day to day life.

Re: How often do people get taken IE 11 sec ty.

The first truck I went to buy in north florida, I sent the guy a $500 deposit and he sent it back saying the truck was sold. I called him up and asked why he sold it knowing he would have my deposit for it(because I hadnt seen it yet, and was going up the following weekend to buy it in full) that day. He didnt have anything to say. Gave me all of my money back, but still made me mad.

Then I met Mark, and bought the best Sy out there. Until I blew it up.. heh.

To be honest fellas, I do think and feel that most of the members here are good people...... VERY GOOD people! I have been (and still are) on many other boards and I can tell you right now that with the exception of a very very few, the members here are stand up people for sure. Oh there are a couple of hard case juvenile delinquents :rotf: but it's usually in good fun  .

I offer for sale and purchase from members here on this board before I even think of e-gay for two reasons.... one we need two "help each other out first" before the general public and two, I've had way more trouble from the average e-bay flakes
What it comes down to is that anything can happen anywhere. We have a "Doghouse" section that can be used in the event of last resort but fella's on here are pretty straight up.
We also have trader rating feed back just like E-bay and I'll bet you most of it is positive across the board (one of the admins may be able to comment?) I'm still willing to work with Grant and he may have an issue...... may have been run over by a beer truck or slipped and fell into some gal :rotf: but I am protecting my self just in case at this point, thats all and nothing more at this time so you boys don't pass judgment on him just yet ok.

Hey I understand that things happen, hell I was supposed to be on a business trip to Japan for a week or so and it turned into almost a month due to contract changes and other problems with the Navy, I missed X-mas and New Years with my wife and kids for the first time since we have been married for Christ sake! I can't access my paypal from abroad without some serious problems and was supposed to send funds to CKEITH for the Bowtie block I'm getting from him. Well I got home last night and funded him. He waited almost a month for me because he's a big big STAND UP KINDA GUY  but it's all about keeping in touch and staying straight with the folks that take care of you!

I hear ya bro.. Geeez!! I remember one time i drove 185 miles to pick up a v8 vega and notified the seller before i drove off with my Big Block truck(8mpg) and towing a full meal car trailer. I contacted the seller, and he replied, "Ill see you soon". After driving for over 2 hours he calls me up on my cell phone and tells me the vehicle has been sold..sorry. WTF? Whats wrong with some people?? All he had to tell me in the beginning is first come, first served, ya know. I thought he would of been cool enough to hold it for me after acknowledging that i was on my way from a long distance, and not messin' around. I told him exactly what i had to do(get trailer hitched up and so on). I left my residence 20 minutes after i spoke to him. And he knew i had alot of driving to do. If i would of seen him that night, I probably would of been locked up for a long time. Man, I lost my ass on that deal. Can you imagine how furious i was driving home. It wasnt a good day/eve. Gets my blood boiling just thinkin' about that nightmare. :(

I hear you too, I am in Wisconsin now, originally from Minnesota and it is hard to find SyTy's close to me. I hope that I don't get taken. With the help of you all I plan not too. ****, I can't wait to have a Ty.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Re: How often do people get taken IE 11 sec ty.

From what James said, this board has alot of great people. There is a large majority of us who actually know each other on a personal face to face basis, not just through a moniter and keyboard. Compared to other groups, we are a very small one. News and ongoings spread almost instantly in this community we are so small.

From my personal view, I feel much safer buying from anyone on here than I would out on ebay or craigslist. We have tried to set up a system to help protect and notify when tranactions do go bad, but also have the feedback system in which people can comment on good transactions as well. But like most everywhere, the bad transactions stand out more than the good ones.

Like all transactions and sales via internet, my suggestion is to always be smart and do your homework and ask as many questions as possible. We have a very diverse group of people here with experience in many areas that are ready to share their knowledge for anyone listening. Its a powerful tool when used correctly

James, Im not sure if we are able to see total feedback stats for the entire board, but I do agree that I think most all of it falls on the positive side. Will look into that.....

Re: How often do people get taken IE 11 sec ty.

I can tell you from experience that pretty much everyone ive met that is a member here have been pretty good guys. I have never had one single problem buying or selling something on here or anywhere else. Ofcourse, Im not a big buyer/seller either, just do things when they are convenient. Sometimes, no matter what you do in life and m=no matter what kind of person you are, you get the shaft. As far as our rim deal going south please dont say that yet, as we have barely even had any communication, Im still waiting for pictures of these supposed bent wheels. I would think if they were really bent or the guy was really upset he would have sent the pics a week and a half ago when he recieved them. Sometimes you ahve to see things from everyones eyes but in the end its what happens between the buyer and seller that really matters I guess. I posted that htread and found it intersting the many different views people have about it. Ive been here for a while, not as long as some, and can say Ive seen A LOT go down and some of it gets worked out and some of it doesnt. Ultimately, I go into transactions with people here not really thinking twice about getting screwed, mainly because the people Ive met in person are just awsome people.

Sorry, maybe I spoke too soon about your rim transaction. To me, maybe like you, it seems as if he should have provided proof by now. Anyhow, I was really just asking if I was somewhat wrong in thinking people here are anything but trustful and nice. I can't see how I could be wrong, this seems to be the best group of people on the web! I will most definately be around for a long time, but first I need a truck.

Good night,

Yea ditto X2! The biggest thing you can do to help your self is ask for pic's. I know that a lot of the guys think posting pic's takes time, effort etc. and is a general pain in the ass but I have learned that for anyting of serious price... you gotta do it. Through the years I have lost a about $9,000 plus or so on out right scams, stuff that was total junk or a "mint" part for a mint resto that was not mint and I couldn't use. Good example is Brodix heads I been looking for. Been through three sets and have paid machine shop charges to have them checked BEFORE I send the payment. All three sets have been on circle track cars and the decks have been cut to much for forced induction, even though they were "ready to bolt on and run". Saved me a lot of money in lost shipping and time but worth it. The down side is that sometimes you do miss out on good parts due to time or whatever. I missed out on the Brodies that T-Bone had do to an e-mail / pic problem wile I was gone but that's the break's?
