Knock Sensors are they all the same?

Are all GM 4.3 knock sensors the same ... yes ? no ? on my conversion i am using a 95 4.3 short block so i left the 2 knock sensors in the block not thinking they were any different OTHER then their location... one being on the back of the passanger side head and the other being on the side of the driver side head.



truck runs good but only on t3 22 or 24 setting on ultimate radar style will the engine show no knock retard any other setting whenever it gets into boost it gives me knock

no. syclone has a special knock sensor that has to be matched to the memcal with the stock syclone chip.

every memcal has a matching knock sensor. it's best not to mix and match them.

Is there a list of matching parts anywhere ? Could false knock come from an unmatched set ?

With the wrong one you will get a code 43. Replaced it with a new one from the dealer and it went away...

the stock syty uses a single knock sensor...
the two on our engines when wired in parallel (stock)
equal the same resistance as the single stock syty knock sensor.
ive tried both ways.. single syty or pair of vortec knock sensors
with the syty ecm and found vortec sensors to be only slighty
more sensative.

one of the pair has a 3/8ths thead for end of the cyl head
and the other has pipe thread for the coolant hole.
Ive tried running 2 of the 3/8s type to put them in a diff location
and, again, not much difference.

I've had alot of problems getting the right Knock sensor for the wife's truck.... I've bought one aftermarket... wrong Set code right away.... Ordered one from the dealer ...same outcome. I have to keep putting the nasty old stock one back in it... but no Ck engine light....
Hope to correct it soon.

hey john given my mods which one would i use? Ive been getting a little more knock than usual.
