If nothing else, visit the library or Barnes & Noble and look at some small block chevy rebuilding books. I've got a few and I remember they talked about all those plugs. I'd suspect they are very similar if not identical on the 4.3.

They are both tapered plugs. The left side is 3/8NPT and the right side is 1/4NPT. They are pipe threads hence the NPT. Its been awhile since I looked at the back of a 4.3 but im 99% sure thats the configuration. WOrd to the wise...if youre gonna mess with them, be careful tightening them back up...the one on the left loves to crack...Ive seen it many times.

Go ahead and make it 100%, part #s 445686 (3/8" sq hd) and 12338136 (1/4" hex hd).

See I knew that there was a wise weenie out there. Both a tapered plug would explain my major oil leak. Stupid engine builder he kramed in a straight thread, way to go idiot. Thank you for the valuable infromation.

Mine has freeze plugs in it so if the threads are shot you have another option. :2cents:
