Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

Took The Typhoon To Speed Inc's AWD Dyno Today Only Did 3 Pulls And Had Just 15 Pounds Of Boost And 15 Degrees Of Timing In It But It Still Put Down Over 520 Foot Pounds Of Torque At only 2500rpm

On The 3rd Run The Turbo Seized Because Of A Too Small Oil Feed Line (-4) Oh Well I Need To Talk To Turbonetics And Pull Our Good Guy Deal For The Year

All Runs Done Without Nitrous

im going to get a new turbo and head back to the dyno i hope to make around 600hp and 800ft pounds of torque with 22psi and some more timing and if it dont i have a 100hp NX kit on it i can use lol

Nice #'s. -4 should be MORE than enough oil I think you got something else going on.

Re: Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

well the fittings are -4 but the line is alot smaller and i aso switched to brad penn hd30 oil so i dont know if that had somthing to do with it the truck has great oil pressure so i know thats not it

Re: Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

i agree with jeff.
-4 is 1/4" ID - if not crimped or mangled plenty of flow.
look over things carefully; something's fishy in denmark there and you don't want to hurt anything else.
and, hi jeff, how ya doing?

Re: Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

looks like you are using the stock oil feed line which is a 3an hose with a #4 fitting.. Either way, i agree with what others have already mentioned.

what do you got going on for an intercooler?
X2 do you have an icebox or some cooled IC inside the truck? More pics looks like a badass ride.

Re: Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

yes truck has a water to air setup inside the truck works great and as far as the turbo goes from day one its been a little on the loose side and after the dyno it hit the housing

Is it a BB turbosetup. If so it's not going to like the dyno oil. If you were running it hot then shutting down frequently you may have "coked" it enought to burn it on your last runs. Other than motor break in time you should go to syn oil on a turbo setup.

Caution when switching to a -4 line with high oil pressues. You will need a restrictor or you will chance blowing out you turbo seals.

Re: Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

turbo is not a BB turbo and i did not turn the truck off from run to run truck stays around 170 degrees i plan on going to a true -4 with whatever restrictor turbonetics tells me to use im not even sure it was an oil problem i could have just got a bad turbo

Re: Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

As said by all above, your feed line is fine and the Brad Penn oil is one of the best dino / non syn performance oils in the world (if not the best). Either a bad unit out of the box or some crap in the lines at start up etc. would be my bet.

Re: Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

HP was way down because of no timing and afr was 9.1 at the top of the run so it was only around 300hp

Re: Typhoon Went On The Dyno Today

My truck made 390 Hp / 520 Ft. Lbs on Mustang Dyno ! Truck ran 11.3's @ 119 mph with a GT35R Turbo on the truck. Oh yea that was only @ 18lbs of boost.

Obviously if the turbo was bad it wasn't making all the power it should of at all.

Good Luck
