I'm looking into buying a new laptop from Best Buy and everything is now using Windows Vista operating systems. I'm using the laptop for multipurposes but I want to be able to run my Datamaster TTS program on it. Anyone know if datamaster is compatible with Vista yet? Thanks!

Re: Datamaster for Windows Vista?

I log on a cheap laptop and read on a Vista machine. You can read all you want, doesn't require any activation codes. Anyway when you do the install be sure to "run as administrator." This is different than being the administrator. I think the info is available on their website. See the following, HTH:

The following direct from TTS:

To install DataMaster on a PC running Vista:

Before running the setup program right click on it. Select Properties from the list and then click the Compatibility tab. From there, pick the default Windows XP SP2, click on the 'Apply' button and then click on the 'OK' button.

Now run the setup program to install the DataMaster program.

Registering DataMaster:

In order for the registration tab to work it must be clicked while using as Administrator user. Otherwise it returns a corrupt database error message (invalid signature).

Trial Runs:

In order to use the 20 free trial runs, you need to invoke the registration form while logged in as administrator. This will generate the initial registration database and allow the trial runs to activate. Otherwise it returns a corrupt database error message (invalid signature).

Good info, probably picking up the computer today. Hopefully its not too difficult because I'm in the works with Nolan doing a custom tune. Thanks for all the info!

Glad to help. Works for me but remember I don't "log" with Vista. Let know if it works out.

Re: Datamaster for Windows Vista?

I picked up the new laptop and installed as administrator. I am now trying to run as administrator so I can put in the auth code but I am getting an error message that will not allow me to open the datamaster program. Also, how do I get around re-registering the program? I already have the program registered on my other computer and I was told it can onle be registered once??

Re: Datamaster for Windows Vista?

Gotta Contact TTS Power Systems or the vendor who sold it to you. The Reg system of DataMaster can be a PITA..

Re: Datamaster for Windows Vista?

I contacted Detroit Turbo where I purchased the program from and they pretty much told me I'm S out of luck. I know I'm not thr only one who's had to change computers and wants to reload Datamaster on a different computer.

X2, TTS should be able to help. Re-read my post and double check everything. The info I posted came directly from them, I'll edit that post for better readability.

Don't forget to RIGHT click on the DM icon then click "run as administrator."

Re: Datamaster for Windows Vista?

Don W. i tried all that, Unless I am missing something. Under properties I set it up to run in Windows XP, and when I try to run it as administrator it gives me an error message and will not allow the program to open. When I open it normally it will open to view logs but I can not record or authorize. I sent TTS an email hopefully they can assist me better
