A Display of Glee From A New-ish SyTy Owner

I've had my Ty for about a month now, but I can't help feeling gleeful (if you will) when I get people asking or complimenting me on my Ty.

Here's just a few encounters I've had in the past month that made me feel pretty dam good about buying the Typhoon:

: Filling at a gas station a guy says it's a good looking truck and it's been years since he's seen one. I simply gave him the reply that it looks a lot better when it's clean. It was actually quite dirty at the time and had LOTS of bird excrement on the back of the roof. I actually had birds flying in poop with their beak and leaving it on my Ty (I wouldn't believe it either except that I actually saw it a few times). In fact, I counted and would get 10+ "bombs" in a concentrated spot a day on my Ty.

: I picked up my dad (he has no car or license) a couple times from work (around ten at night) with the Ty and by the second or third time I picked him up he had three or four people from the foundry askin' about the Typhoon... and one of the people wasn't even on his shift!

: I'd get a compliment from the random fast food employee workin' the drive thru.

: When I brought it home and explained to my downstairs neighbor that I just bought it (he knew what it was) he told me, "you suck," before going back inside.

: Just yesterday after picking up some Taco Bell I had someone in an adjoining parking lot honking at me and giving their approval... so I replied with a thumbs up and a engine rev that took me 15-20 over the limit (unintentional) in a blink of an eye. Good thing there were no cops around lol

I know things like that may not be a big deal to a lot of you, but after driving a neon (my only other car) for years, it makes me pretty damn happy with my purchase.

I'd love to hear any other similar stories that you guys might have after first buying your SyTy. Sorry if this threads been done before. Admittedly, I didn't do a search before posting *gulp*

welcome to the forum!! nice to see another cheese head on here.

dont worry, we have all had similar things happen to us!

my favorite is the smug little mustang/ or import owner who has a hot girlfriend in the pass seat, looking smugly over at the truck, like her boyfriends car is the fastest thing in the world.
it's almost like clockwork, girl looks at guy,.....guy says....watch this!.....then all they see is a violent boost launch, and a loud whistle!!!.............WTF????

the look on the girlfriend after is PRICELESS!!

I'm still looking for that experience :D I've never really raced it yet, but I have "played' with a person here or there. I was driving in a 25mph zone one night and keeping a 30-35mph speed going, but that apparently wasn't enough for some people. I had one person pass me and another riding my bumper. So, when I came to a red light in a 45mph zone next to one of the cars (a 2k+ Monte on chrome), I left them way back in my rearview and didn't even bother looking at them when they caught up (they only caught up because I don't like to drive too much over the limit and we hit another red).

LOL @ Rookie. I think we'd all appreciate experiences like that if we could get them. Hey, ladies... the back seats in the Ty DO fold down :boink: Hahaha! Who am I kidding? No ladies are gonna read this :rotf:

Every time I drive past a chick on the street she jumps in the Sy and gets naked.

:rotf: LOL. Then, your alarm goes off and it's time to wake up...

Ty doesn't get too much attention around here. If I'm ever hurting for  's, I'll get a Viper.

I sold my Vette and was getting tired of all the attention it got, I guess the Torch Red didn't help. I love flying under the radar in the Ty. I'll get the occasional rubber necker as I drive by them once they realize what it is. Those are the best.

Up here in the North Country not too many people know about these things. Most kids think it's an S-10 with a body kit (actually overheard a few students saying that as I parked it). A few days later I was in one of the labs at the college and the same group came in for a class. Their attitudes changed a little when they saw what was under the hood. I gave them a brief lesson about Syclone's & Typhoon's. :D

Stopped by the Chevy dealer I deal with to pick up the oil filter lines which has started to leak. Guy there looking at cars left the salesman on the lot while he came over to ask me if it was a real Typhoon.

In the few thousand miles I put on it before tearing it down, I could only find one decent race. 03ish maybe Bullet Mustang GT. He knew what it was when we came up to the red light and wanted to run em. Did pull up to a WRX Sti, but he didn't want to play. All the civics and shit don't count. They will race anything with loud exhaust.

And I did head to southern Indiana to pick up a 5 link setup for my Sonoma I was planning on bagging and body dropping. Guys at suicidedoors had heard of them, but had never seen one. Before I knew it the whole shop was outside checking it out.

Nice. Congrats. Around these parts they don't really know what they are.

My favorite: a co-worker, who I knew to be a gear head shows up at a office lunch party thing the same time I do.. He parks next to me, and we go in together. He is raving about what a lucky dog I am to have a Typhoon.

He had pulled up in a Pantera.

Re: A Display of Glee From A New-ish SyTy Owner

When i was driving mine home immediately after I purchased it I stopped at a rest stop and this kid was walking along and just kept staring, not watching where he was going. It was pretty funny.

I also had a lightning owner see me pulling right in front of him at a red light. I then looked back when the light turned green he tried to catch up to me to see the truck, but I was getting off the road and he was continuing straight.

Then random people walking by my house saying
"nice truck"
"Is it for sale?"
"Don't see those very often"
"Earnhardt Jr (or some other race card drive) got one of those from his dad a long time ago"

My parent's neighbor was surpised to see it, he's a gear head with a beautiful 454ss pickup and a cherry red trans am. Also has a few other cars stored away I've never seen. He's quite old in his 80's I think. He liked it and said it was a really good purchase because it was so rare. He also gave me an article that was in a catalog he came across.

It's definitely an experience to own one and it is great!
