50lb injectors

My wife went out and bought me a 93 typhoon after I had a catostrophic engine failure in my supercharged Z 28. Long story, but man....What a woman!

My question is how difficult is it to change the injectors on the typhoon's? On my TPI Z28, it was a PITA! I have an ultimate chip I bought for the car that is made for 50lb injectors. Next question, will my gas milage be much worse with the 50lb injectors? I know that My Z had 22's and I changed them to 36's and my gas mpg sucked.

I may just have my chip set to stock injectors.

Thanks for the info.

2-3hrs for a first timer, not a bad job.

I would first question/caution you.

#1 Why do you want to change them? Stock are around 33# and in a ty will go mid 12's. You going faster than that?

#2 Mileage has very little to do with the size of the injector and more with how well it is giving the motor the correct air fuel delivery, in particular ratio. In other words how well is the tune/chip.

the ultimate 50# chip is ~6years old now. I highly suspect there are ways and chips out there that might just be a bit more developed.

But then it leads to another question, if you just got the truck are you sure everything else is up to par and running like it should. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pump, what map sensor, what turbo, list goes on.

I can promise you the typhoon you just got can be blown up a lot easier than your Z28. Wouldn't want your wife to have to buy you a 3rd car.

I was telling this to someone else you really just need a good tune-up and you can be fast. Look up the tune-up section that Tookey has.

Re: 50lb injectors

The only reason you need bigger injectors is because you are runing a bigger turbo or you have been modifying the engine. Your best bet is getting an alkycontrol kit. http://www.alkycontrol.com/
This will allow you to run as much boost as you want with the stock turbo. It gives you cooling properties and boosts octane as well. The hell with race gas.

Very good! Thanks for the info. I have a 600+ hp IROC and gas mpg was killing me! One of the many reasons I wanted a typhoon. 18mpg vs........7mpg. Plus, I fell in love with typhoons/syclones the first time I laid my eyes on them!

I used to have the PAC controller with water injection for my Z. I will put it on my typhoon! And keep the stock injectors!

Thanks all!
