well got alot done today. pulled the front end all part. got everything ready to pull the tranny and then the motor tomorrow. pulled the t-case, turbo, upper intake, and everything that mounts to the fenders. took out the a/c and abs. 9 bolts on the trans and 2 bolts on the motor and everything will be out.

Bro, keep up the good work....there is an elite crew of haters on this site and unfortunately, your post has found some of them....:rotf:....stick to your game plan. I love budget builds.....anyone with money can pay someone to do all their work and spend loads of money but to make something out of almost nothing while doing most of the work yourself is an achievment in itself. Oh, by the way...subscribed!....

i want to build some headers but im going to see if the 6.0 manifolds will clear the steering when turned upside down . if they fit i will cut off the flanges and tig on some v-bands.

I believe Bryan on the forum tried that and it did not work. This is where I am lost on what to do and is holding me back from doing the swap.

Re: My budget LQ4/4L80E build!

its been done before. just make sure you use the right filler rod, heat the manifolds up before welding(i will be putting them in a oven 450*), and done use a 50lb turbo.

I will have to ask him more details. But If i am not mistaking they did not fit backwards, and he had to get a set of headers.

- I like the thread. I started to collect parts now, because of your build.

i wouldn't mind having to build headers. it would be fun.

It'l be interesting to see what happends when you get to the "harder stuff". I think the manifolds won't work and the oil pan( your going to have to mock it up, the engine is going to be in and out a dozen times.)

:squint: I had to take mine in and out several times. The tunnel is an issue with a 6.0l and a 4L80E trans. Been-there-done-that :D

Re: My budget LQ4/4L80E build!

Hey bro, I just seen this post. If you need any help let me know. Yes I did try the 6.0 manifolds backwards and they did not fit because of the flange. if you do like you said (cut the flange and weild some v-bands on there that should work fine) you could alway move the steering shaft over alittle bit to clear. the manifolds where touching the steering shaft aswell. If you need another oil pan, I have 3 sitting in the garage. Good luck. you seam to have more time than I have. who are you going to have tune it? I use Rick at synergy. He has a stock 5.3 (block and pistons) pushing 814hp 800+tq. you will see his post on ls1tech and performancetrucks, net. The key is tuning to make these stock motors live. I also had my stock block 5.3 pushing 680hp 780tq. PM me if you want to come by and check out my progress. Or want to check your mockup. I have truck manifolds and my motor is sitting in the truck. you could check your clearences if needed...
