I've hear lots of hype about this new Toyota V8, but I'm a little doubting of it.
The motor is junk. It can not be bored for a rebuild. The Toyota spec is to replace the short block (because the cylinder liners are that thin).
I know my Toyota V8 in the Lexus is a dog stock. like 0-60 in 7.2 seconds.

i call bs on 4.4. I drive an 05 tundra with the 4.7 for a daily and it has decent power. the 5.7 is fun to drive and has a lot of low end, but even with boost i cant see those kind of numbers from a rwd fullsize truck.

All of the parts on that truck are just aftermarket add ons not production peices so i dont think it will ever take away the fast production truck title from the Sy and if they try they will just have to race an Sy with the "4.4 60 truck"

4.4 0-60 is doubtfull with an open differential, which they all are now because toyota adopted this stupid "auto-lsd". Which is similar to some euro car's and just clamps the brakes down on the rear wheel thats spinning. So no true lsd option on any toyota anymore.(still a locker on 4runner/fjcruiser though). But the 106mph in the 1/4 I believe, sy/tys do not make power in upper rpms where as this toyota motor is about as rev happy as they come these trucks pull hard all the way to redline.
And to this, there not many steel sleeved aluminum block engines that can be bored over for a rebuild, I can't even think of any. I'm fairly sure that the 1uzfe in your lexus can't be bored over.
