    ProCar Seats

I’m making this thread for future reference on installing aftermarket ProCar by Scat seats into a Syclone.

ProCar makes a variety of seat designs. They are made based in California, and I bought all my stuff through Summit Racing.

The way most aftermarket seats work is they are built around a company standard. All the seats have the same mounting points. In addition to the seats, you must also buy an adapter bracket to fit your particular vehicle. The adapter bracket converts the stock mounting studs, to the company standard mounting.

For my truck ,I decided to go with the 1780 Drifter seats. ProCar has a couple designs for “street” seats. The Drifter seat is more of a racing design. It is a fiberglass tub fixed back, with holes for a 5-point harness. That is the main reason I went with the Drifter seat, since I have 5-point harnesses. As a fixed back seat, there is no recline, and the back is completely vertical. This is the driving position i personally prefer. Also, the Drifter seat looks to be designed for a skinny person. I have a 32-34" waist and it is snug around my hips, taking my phone and wallet out of my pockets. The crotch belt is also very snug. More on the Drifter seat, is it is very tall. It's about 6" taller than the Syclone seats. Mine almost touch the roof. The butt location in the seat is identical to s Syclone seat. So you don't sit any higher, but the upright seat-back moves your head higher. Also, the drifter seat will be impossible to use with stock seatbelts. The side bolsters are way too high for the stock belts. Yet another point on the Drifter seats, is the ingress/egress. The Drifter has high side bolsters, and only gives me 6" of space between the seat, and the steering wheel to get in & out. That is with the wheel tilted all the way up. So once again, you better be skinny & flexible to run these seats. I am going to try to live with it, but soon i will install a Momo or Sparco wheel with a quick-disconnect.

ProCar lists several adapter brackets for the S10/S15 series trucks. That is due to the multiple seat/floor configurations for a S-series. Everything from bench seat and 2WD, to 4WD and buckets, and other combinations. If you’ve ever had your seats out, you know the floor is not flat and even. There are humps and dips for things like the transfercase, and transmission. The adapter brackets are meant to take the uneven floor studs, and create a flat level surface to mount the seat.

Also make note that the universal slider mounts that ProCar sells with the seats need to be cut to fit a Syclone. The slider mounts have 3 slots for varying seat height. The top slot (lowest position) is not possible due to the S-series adapter plate interference. You must use the middle or bottom slot. If you use the middle slot, then the bottom slot hits the floor on the transmission tunnel side. The bottom slot must be cut off in order to clear the floor.

More info & pictures to come. Stay tuned.

    Re: ProCar Seats

Looks like a nice setup. Seats look great, a little concerned with how close the distance from the wheel to the front of the seat. About how tall are you and how comfortable is it getting in and out?

    Re: ProCar Seats

Going on 3 months now, dealing with Procar. Still going nowhere. Seems to be a trend with me recently.

Anyway, after Procar told me the brackets would fit, then after they didn't fit, Procar offered to modify them if I sent them back. So far they have never once returned my 20+ calls or 20+ emails. I've had to call from public phone to get them to answer.

So right now, they have had my brackets for over 3 weeks, and ignore my calls and emails. So I'm kinda stuck waiting, again.

I'll follow up if they ever answer.

    Re: ProCar Seats

Still waiting on Procar. I’ll give a quick timeline of my fiasco.

Oct. 31 – I submit a request for part numbers for seat adapters on a GMC Syclone. There are 6 different numbers listed for S10, with no distinction.

Nov. 1 – Reply from Guy #1 giving standard S10 (non 4WD) part numbers.

Mar. 11 – Bought seats and adapter brackets with part numbers given.

Mar. 21 – Seats and brackets delivered. Brackets don’t line up with studs in the Syclone floor.

Mar. 22 – I email Guy #1, asking again if bracket numbers are correct. He reassures me that they were made to bolt into my truck. Then he asks if I have bench seat, and extended cab, and so on. I spend time test fitting, and adjusting seats trying to get them to fit.

Apr. 2 – I email Guy #1 that the brackets definitely don’t fit. No response.

Apr. 6 – I email Guy #1 again, asking if he can check his database for measurements. No response.

Apr. 18 – I email Guy #1 again, asking if he had time to look into my problem. No response.

Apr. 19 – Guy #1 emails back that he is checking out my problem, and will follow up next day. (No follow up)

May 17 – I call Guy #1, goes to voicemail. I email Guy #1 again, asking for help. Explaining that I can’t drag this project out forever. I ask if I can ship the brackets back with measurements and notes, to be modified. No response.

May 18 – I call and ask for Guy #1. I’m put on hold for 20 minutes, then through to voicemail. He never responded. I do research on different forums and find a name of Guy #2 who helped people with seats. I call Guy #2 and explain my situation, I ask about sending the brackets back to be modified. Guy #2 says it would be no problem, they will take care of me real quick.

May 19 – I take measurements, and ship the brackets back to California, attention to Guy #2. Tracking says May 24 delivery.

May 25 – I call Guy #2 and verify he received my package, and he did, call ended there.

Jun 7 – I call Guy #2, he tells me he handed my package back over to Guy #1. I call Guy #1, sent to voicemail. I send email to Guy #1 asking about a timeline, or if my modifications were even something they would do. Guy #1 emails me, saying that Guy #2 is managing my stuff, and that he would follow up with me same day. No response.

Jun 15 – I call receptionist, she says Guy #1 is in his office, and puts me through. It rings and goes to voicemail. No response.

Jun 16 – I email Guy #1 & Guy #2 venting my frustration. I explain that I shipped my brackets to Guy #2, because Guy #1 never follows through. I question if my brackets have even been looked at. I ask both guys to just send my package back, and I will pay for return shipping. Guy #1 emails me, saying that Guy #2 was working on it, and that his manager has my brackets. Guy #1 says he will look into it, and reply to me “ASAP”. No response.

Jun 20 – Guy #1 emails me, saying that my brackets were just modified and ready to ship soon. He said call and give my credit card number for fab costs and shipping costs. I call Guy #1 and I’m put on hold, I waited on hold for 15 minutes, before hanging up.

    Stay tuned, lol.

i received the brackets in the mail yesterday.

Also, the point of this thread was to make people aware that S10 seat brackets do not bolt straight into a Syclone (at least not my Syclone). So all of the seat brackets listed for S10 will not work.
