Re: AllData DYI for 1993 Typhoon

The ECM doesn't have a transmission temp sensor. I have an aftermarket one and a transcooler. I try to keep the temps below 210. If I brake torque the motor and do 2 boost launches in short time...

Re: first dyno pull...do these numbers make sense?

Logic say that is should have made more hp, but the turbo is completely mismatched the for the engine. The torque should have been 600ft-lbs ball park. Something is way off, the turbo is way wrong...

Re: AllData DYI for 1993 Typhoon

The fuel trim on the stock chip goes from 108 to 150, it should ideally be close to 128. As long as it not the near extreme of 108 or 150 it is probably fine. The O2 sensor should be switching...

Re: AllData DYI for 1993 Typhoon

There is a whole bunch of us that tune our vehicle and troubleshoot our vehicles using the ALDL data. What are you looking for exactly?

Re: Towing Trailer

I would not tow something that big with a Typhoon. If I was going to tow something it would be closer to 1000#.

Re: Lets Play What Should My Syclone Run

I would guess with a good tune and traction, I would think that it would squeak into the 11's @ 15psi. 3 psi should add another 45-50hp which would put you around 11.5 maybe slightly faster.

Re: Code59 King of the Hill

I updated the list since TJ doesn't seem to be doing it anymore. I took off the diesel ty, I could not stand seeing a 15.9s ET anymore.

Re: New Big Gun! 10.71 124mph

Congratulations Sean, that is very impressive. I didn't even think 10.7 was possible with Typhoon and a stock bottom end.

Re: SHould I put black RTV on trans pan in addition to gasket?

I have seen a few transmission pan gasket leaks because the bolts are over torqued.

Re: What do you think it would cost to build a reliable 11 second Sy.

I built my Syclone to be a reliable mid 11 second truck and was aiming for ~500hp. One can put on a moderate sized turbo on a stock motor and it can run mid 11 with right supporting mods and high...

Re: BOV Question, Im sure this has been asked

Removing the crossover pipe and locating the air filter closer the turbo will make the fluttering noise.

Re: BOV Vacuum Line

Don't T off the MAP and FP vacuum hose, those pressure signals are too important. I would use the brake booster line. You could use the vacuum port at the front of the intake that goes under the...

Re: How to bleed brakes with ABS?

Your procedure looks like it's for bleeding the abs. If you don't activate the abs, you can just bleed the brakes like a normal non abs vehicle. I leave the abs alone and the small amount of fluid...

Re: Grand national turbo on syty???

I think the GN is only slightly larger than the stock turbo. The 20g should have more potential than the stock GN turbo unless it's a 20g wheel with the stock TD06 center section and 8cm exhaust...

Re: Best way to lower the rear on my Ty?

That is one of the highest riding Typhoon that I have ever seen. I wonder if at somepoint someone swapped in 4x4 springs in the rear.

Re: Wifes new Typhoon

I would double check the crate motor. Unless it is really old, it is unlikely to have the correct syty pistons and nodular main caps. By the late 90's GM was selling regular LB4 as SyTy crate...

That happen to Dennis Kaese's Typhoon while I was driving on the way to 2005 Nationals. The fan bolts loosen up.

Re: Bought an old Typhoon with new Motor

Yup, those are L35 heads. The block is a balance shaft block. I am not sure what is a Syclone self is since Syclone and Typhoon basically had the same motor.

While your at it clean out your throttle body passages (you will need new throttle body gaskets) and replace your vacuum lines.
