I don't understand the reasoning behind everyone suggesting 96+ Vortecs as an equally inexpensive option as porting L35's. A Vortec swap for someone besides Jeff Scott is going to cost quite a bit...

Look for one from a 1993 c3500 with a 454. It's a hi-torque mini starter.
