Re: Lightning owners dog out us!?!???

Who said Lightnings are faster than Syclone's? Syclone are faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile. Lightning can have the top speed.

Re: Shocks for the Aspen??

Typhoon didn't originally have Bilsteins. They did make 2 different Bilsteins models for SyTy, one was the HD. I would guess that you had the bilstein HD's. When I owned my typhoon KYB monomax...

Re: 2015 Nats location???

Their would be a ton of down time between runs if all 4 lanes are open. You would be lucky to get 30 SyTy's to race at a Nats.

Re: 772 vortec heads cracked.....

What size valves does the 772 Vortec have in them. I have heard and read that 2.02/1.60 tend to crack. I went with 2.00 & 1.56 valves for that reason.

Re: Ultra rare Aspen Blue 92 Typhoon

I know that owning my Syclone is not the best financial decision. I make a lot of good financial decisions. No credit card debt, maxed out 401k contribution, I slowly get ahead on mortgage, and...

Re: Corvette C5 wheels with snow tires - pick up only

I had a Typhoon that I drove in the winter (all seasons tires), I am sure with snow tires it would be a beast. I would not drive a virgin winter truck in the snow though, IMO once a truck is...

Re: What mods / upgrades / maintenace to do, when egine is anyway off?

If this is going to be a daily driver, I would probably just rebuild the turbo or put in a 20G turbo (skip the 14cm2 exhaust housing) and raise the boost as in your first post.

If your looking to...

Re: What mods / upgrades / maintenace to do, when egine is anyway off?

Solid motor mounts are barely noticeable on these trucks. I have read not to do a solid transmission mounts in conjunction with solid motor mounts. I had tried to hold off on getting solid mounts...

Re: Crazy Freeway Knock Retard

Idle should be around 600-700 rpm.

Ideally 0 degrees should what a stock SyTy runs on 92-93 octane. I would say a few degrees on shifts is 'normal' & should be attainable. 4 degrees at 9psi is...

Re: Crazy Freeway Knock Retard

It shouldn't have needed race gas to get the knock retard to 0 to 4 degrees. I would bypass the solenoid as sytyguy suggested. Potentially John maybe on to something with the wrong compression.

Re: Cluster problem

If you are using the frame as a ground, you will need to have a good ground from the engine block to the frame.

iirc The factory ground path to the frame is just a small wire off the battery. I...

Re: Crazy Freeway Knock Retard

The 2 bar map sensor will only read to 15.2 or 15.3 psi. I would reduce the boost to below 15psi and then add fuel pressure to see if that helps.

Re: Crazy Freeway Knock Retard

Oh well. I was trying to rule out the chip as being the problem. I would raise your fuel pressure 5psi to see if that helps.

Re: PTE turbo with stock wastegate actuator? ?

It won't work. The rod length of a mitsubishi actuator is too short. The PTE turbo is physically a larger turbo, the wastegate flapper is also mounted on the down pipe vs the stock turbo's internal...

Re: vent deflectors

I had them on my typhoon. I didn't care for them. I didn't like the way they looked and I didn't think they were that functional useful. If my Syclone had them I would have taken them off. My...

Assuming those are BS3 words, they are improperly describing a ground loop. A ground loop is a 2 grounds at different potentials that were designed to be at the same potential. I am sure BS3...
