Anyone know how to get $2,000 of fellow SYTY members worth of money from a liar and a thief?

He has had 6 months to produce emergency brake cable brackets and procure cables for the LS1 rear brake mod and has yet to show anything for it.
See the group purchase section for evidence.

The Admins have him in the dog house.

Can I ask for a little peer pressure, local help, or some ideas on how to get our money back?

Thanks in advance.

Re: HotRodV6 is a thief

Was he paid with Postal M.O.'s (any of you)? Was any form of payment (any form) mailed to him through the U.S. Postal Service? Was any part or merchandise agreed to be sent / deliverd via the U.S. Postal Service? Was he paid via Pay Pal?

I bet the anwser to most if not all is yes. If so, this is Mail Fruad, Wire Fraud and if outside the state of Tx. also Inner State Commerce Fraud. Call the U.S. Postal Inspector and the F.B.I. Again,I bet there is enough to get him 60 years or so (15 with time off for good conduct and the over crowding at T.D.C.) I bet he doesn't know how much trouble he is about to be in?

A few of the central / south Tx. members should look him up and explain it, and the fact that T.D.C. Huntsville REALLLLLY SUCKS ASS BAD

Re: HotRodV6 is a thief

I have suggested this before, but I am not sure anyone followed through on it.

You can start by contacting his local PD and filing a report.
http://www.humblepolice.com/
281-446-7127

I have spoken with them but since I have no money or loss at hand I cannot even file a report.
I gave them the info and the URL to the thread and they said they woudl have a detective look into it but until they received a report of fraud / theft by deception then they could not dedicate any resources to it.

You then need to contact the source of your payment, credit card, paypal, postal money order and report it there.
If you used the USPS to mail anything to him it is mail fraud and you can file that online or at your local Post Office.

The very first thing I think I would do is make good use of his phone numbers.
Call every day asking about your status, call early in the morning, late at night whatever.
Make it as inconvenient as he has made your end of the transaction.

ALL of his info is posted in the Doghouse thread.

Eventually the police will get involved and he will start getting pressure to either pay up or do time.

If everyone just sits there wishing on a prayer that their brackets and cables will miraculously make themselves then you are truly screwed worse that I thought.

That is exactly what everyone who lost money needs to do.

Asking him to make good is pointless.
If he hadn't already spent everyones money or had money to repay what he has stolen he probably would have already done so. One thing that is for certain his claims about parts being "shipped next week" that he has used for the past 4 months is not true, the truth is he has stolen your money and your going to need to get the law involved.

Re: HotRodV6 is a thief

damn, i do live local to him and have spoken to him on occsions. it has been a while though. and i do not know what his situation is either. that is a bad deal, i remember when that thread started and thought about getting one but decided to wait for a while, glad i did. there is a bar b que this weekend on the north side of houston, kinda close to him i guess, not sure if he plans to show up there or not, but i am sure that if he does he will most likely have alot of explaining to do. this does kinda suck because he did help me out with quite a few things on my sy and was the first person that i contacted after getting the sy. good luck to those that have been scammed though, if that is what is going on.

I've never realy talked to him like other local SyTy owners, I have met him once before and he seemed like a great guy. I dont know him like i have truckships with other local members. I dont know Kevin or Eric at all but was more than welcome to invite you all to a local b-day bbq truck gathering, HodRodV6 has not been invited, simply for reasons i have no contact to him or freindship so dont depend on me/us (local members) to investigate or intarigate. Im sorry to hear for all of your loss's. I beleive he is a great guy trying to help out with intentions to make a little money on the side. Just like many others on this forum have been doing for quite some time now and have been very helpfull. I think he might have gotton a little over his head, his plans probably just didnt go as he planned. What he did with your guy's money or what he will do with it is in his control. I would say if he had the money he would pay you guy's back even if things didnt work out as he planned. $2000 is quite a lot of money to collect with no proof of making an attemp to provide as he agreed.

My thoughts exactly....... And with excepting $2000 you had better be serious. I have never had bad buisness on this forum for the 8 years i've been around.

The local PD is where to start. But it is going to take a few folks to file reports. In Florida, they could all be lumped into one case of scheme to defraud which is a felony. I don't know the laws in Texas but they should have something. Again, it is going to take a few folks, actually as many as possible, to get the ball rolling. Hopefully it wouldn't be written off as a civil matter.

You could also try the Postal Service but I don't think that will go anywhere. The Fed's usually have a "threshold of pain"(that's my term not an official one) meaning there has to be quite a substancial loss before they get involved.

But again, you all can't sit on your hands and hope something happens. Make that phone call.

You all have to work together if you want to get anywhere . Calling his phone non-stop will only make him spend the $20 to have his number changed . Has anyone actually done anything about this yet ? Dont be afraid to go out of your way to file a report ,ALL of YOU , your only helping out yourselfs .
