Fuel pump sending unit

i came across two different fuel sending units from rock auto that state will fit my ty but are extremely different in cost. One is 53 dollars and the other is 251 dollars. Who can tell me if the 53 dollar one is the correct one. Maybe they just have the wrong info on there site.

Or if anyone recommends some place please let me know.

Thanks

Re: Fuel pump sending unit

I had heard that the good Delphi unit can be that expensive and the garbage Dorman can be had for less than $100. I will probably crack and get the good one when it comes time to drop the tank--Some aftermarket stuff I do not trust at all!

What is the manufacture brand name that the TY's have from stock? What are the ones people are using for replacement?

Re: Fuel pump sending unit

I know its just a picture but why does the Dorman and the ACDelco on rock auto look so different. That gets me worried. I havent taken the old fuel gauge sender out to compare. What does our original part look like????????????????Dorman or ACdelco.

Thanks ty0331 but the only thing i got from that thread was using a 13 gallon or a 20 gallon sending unit. I want to know do i need to spend 250 dollars on a unit that i can get for 60 dollars.

That may be why the pics on rockauto are "so different". I, personally, wouldn't waste my time with the Dorman piece.

Re: Fuel pump sending unit

Okay guys well i decided to get my new walbro fuel pump, racetronixs wiring harness and ground installed. The only thing i need to get is the fuel sending unit my gauge bounces alot and its annoying. Please help me answer the questions below...

20 gallon tank, am i correct??

What is the correct Delphi part number for my 93 ty. Autopartswarehouse.com says the following.
Part number: DPFL0157

Manufacturer number: FL0157

AdvanceAuto.com says part number is FE0114.

What is the correct one???? Advance auto with discount coupon is 101.99 shipped in 2-3 days. Cant go wrong with that.

Thanks

Quanta has them cheaper - http://www.quantaproducts.com/products.asp?dept=317

Also, did the gauge issues arise after installing a pump or messing with the current sending unit? Or did they arise out of the blue? Reason I ask is that I fixed a Ty once that had wild fuel gauge swings and we suspected a faulty sender. After dropping the tank we realized that the P.O. had installed the float rod incorrectly and it was the culprit. Fixed that and the gauge swings went away. Just a thought........

Ya know.....I'm not sure. It personally wouldn't matter to me, but if you want Delphi, I'd give 'em a call and see what brand(s) they carry.

You know what Micheal i just want to make sure i dont need to do this again so if the price is close i would rather go with delphi. I really appreciate the help. If you can answer one more question....which unit am i going with on that list you sent me. When i look up gmc typhoon it doesnt have anything.

Thanks
