What kind of Efans should I get?

I took the clutch fan off today and am curious what electric fan is the best bet for me to go with? I live in Alabama so I will have to have something that cools very well. I wasn't sure if going with Flex-a-Lite was best or should I look for some other brands. Thanks

Re: What kind of Efans should I get?

How much room do you have between the motor and the fans? Because I might run the piping there for the FMIC when I get it. Otherwise I will go around the motor much like Spooldup did. The main reason I removed the stock fan was to clean the engine bay as much as possible and to get some more power.

Re: What kind of Efans should I get?

I only ever spent/wasted money on new electric fans once.. Bought a set of flex-a-lite 210s back when I did a V8 swap in my S10. I've since learned that you can go to a junk yard with a tape measure and find a much higher quality fan for next to nothing.

The flex-a-lites were barely able to cool a TBI 350 even with a larger rad. I ended up building my own shroud and using a set of fans I found in a Lumina. I think one of these pushes more air than the two flex-a-lites.. Plus they feel more balanced and are quieter.

Re: What kind of Efans should I get?

I have the flex a lite fan. I personally didn't buy it, it came on the truck. I also have a 160 degree thermostat and the plastic radiator cover is removed. the fan makes the truck sound a little different and louder. I have temps average around 166-168 degrees according to data master. I also have the edel brock water pump. I would recommend all these parts. There is sufficient room between the fan and the radiator, I would have to measure but my guess is around 4-6". One other thing, I was doing the timing on my truck one day and needed to turn the engine over to TDC and so I just put a towel on the fan and turned the engine over by hand. I am switching to electric this winter.

Re: What kind of Efans should I get?

I have flexalite electric fans. They are great for opening up the front of the truck. In terms of performance its neglible difference. It does change the sound of the motor a little bit if the truck has a quiet exhuast. For bang for $, I would keep a functionning stock fan and spend my money else where.

Why not use a Taurus or Mustang fan?

http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f107/h...-review-59490/

Or even a Spal fan
