LSX Swap (Prototype Finished)

We have just finished mocking up the LSX swap with 4L80E. We have completed the motor mounts, oil pan and transmission crossmember. Everything looks really good, lots of clearance and should be a very easy and direct swap.

For those who recently purchased our torsion bar delete crossmembers they fit great also.

I should be able to post some pics tomorrow.

We also plan to make some universal headers for either single or twin turbo configurations starting next week. Similar to these but for the LSX platform.

I'm going to post in the GP forum to get interest on our first production run of these kits.

The headers look top knotch, how's the pan look. I'm very interested in this stuff.Do we have to run the 4l80e tranny? or can we keep the 700r4?

Re: LSX Swap (Prototype Finished)

the oil pan was not too difficult. Just one small area near the rear corner of the front diff where it is tight.. Luckily we do some oil pan work for a couple local companies, so we had some nice parts/templates to go off of.

As for the trans, the 700r4 would require a different crossmember, but there is plenty of room it seems.

Mike will you be making the Cross member for the 700r4? Can we use the stock one?

I've been thinking of this swap since I got the truck. Glad to see someone is going to do a kit.

Re: LSX Swap (Prototype Finished)

Hey Mike,

Just curious with the LS Turbo Headers, are you going to make them both like the V6 with V-Bands for Single or Twins.

I am in the process of building a LS2 Malibu and you know how i can't be away from a Turbo too long, since i sold all my stuff, """NEED BOOST""""

So if these were to be truely universal then they could work on G-Bodies and other applications promoting more business for you.

Let me know, what you think

Re: LSX Swap (Prototype Finished)

the oil pans will be steel, then nickel plated or anodized.

As for the parts, we are going to offer a conversion kit consisting of the motor mounts, frame pads (same as our v6 ones), transmission mount and crossmember. We are going to mockup some of the engine accessories monday and determine if any custom bracketry must be done.

As for the turbo headers, we already have some universal LSX headers, so we'll be starting with a good fixture similar to our V6 headers. 3" V Band flange so you can build a crossover or mount turbo flanges for twin turbo apps

Re: LSX Swap (Prototype Finished)

I just finished whipping the drool from the screen. Any idea of a package price for everything? Any pics of your set-up with a engine in it?

Re: LSX Swap (Prototype Finished)

i meant to take some today, but was busy getting stuff shipped out. I should have some pics uploaded Monday or Tuesday.

As for pricing, not sure yet but figure motor mounts (~$100), frame pads ($85), custom oil pan (~500) and trans crossmember (~$250) Pretty much inline with our V6 stuff. The headers as pictured run around $1850 for the pair. If we can find some shorty N/A headers that will clear the steering shaft and allow for downpipe clearance when flipped upside down we may be able to make some more affordable ones like they do on the older mustang turbo kits.
