It was sold withing 2 weeks and the new owner enjoyed every bit of it and got a hell of a deal.

My STi has 140K on it, the book says it's worth 12-13. Market says it's worth 10ish. If I decide to sell it any time soon I'll let it go for 6-8K and let it live on giving the new owner a hell of a deal and put a smile on his or her face.

I believe in letting other people enjoy what I've already had fun with. If I could only get 4500 for the STi and it was going to put a smile on someone's face I would definetly sell it for 4500 to someone before I would clunker it, Shit I'd sell it to someone for 2K before I would clunker it. I also know that I could part the STi and make close to 10K or so and that would benifit fellow owners.

I'd do the same thing. Sell for $4500 and save a SY instead of give $4500 to CFC and destroy a rare truck!

Re: Cash for Clunkers Sy

You guys are forgetting that some dealers (Chrysler, Kia, maybe more in days to come) offer a matching $4500 + incentives in addition to the CARS $4500. So $9k + for a SyTy. I said it on another board and I'll say it here. If GM offered that and the G8 GXP qualified I would clunk my Ty in a New York second. Luckily for my Ty that is not in the cards. You guys talk alot of big shit but when it comes to buying it's the same old story "I wish I could" or "I would if.." In this dream (nightmare) scenario of course the truck would be stripped as far as possible but it is still a loss of a real SyTy so what's the difference? IDK, I can't see it for $4500 but for $9k plus it's hard to ignore.

Re: Cash for Clunkers Sy...SAVED!!!

The Syclone has been repatriated.

From the sales manager:
I now have the keys to the Syclone and should get the oK on Monday to get it home. I did get to drive it in the parking lot and it runs, shifts and drives fine but it wants to die in gear but just placing my foot on the gas in gear keeps it going, with or without the AC on. The seats look like new and it really is a solid truck. I would live to find a original black paint door for the because it looks like it still has all factory paint, I will know more when I clean it up. Survivor??

Re: Cash for Clunkers Sy...SAVED!!!

Just drove past it myself a few hours ago. It's definitely been moved to the other side of the lot, and parked under a shade tree.

Funny though, the new owner hadn't contacted me since Thursday. Glad to hear he's talking to someone at least.

A HUGE thanks goes out to the JSM crew and the (car guy) sales manager.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Any time buddy! I was realy afraid that this one, #2076, was a goner. Hopefully the new owner will join the board and become another fantic.

Re: Cash for Clunkers Sy...SAVED!!!

Nice save guys! What was done to stop this from being done? I would think that there would be some sort of paper trail done here to identify this truck and I would think that if it was an easy thing to do... well...

Just curious?
