and if i'm wrong, hopefully they'll correct me and get us up to date w/ their current status

YES You are WRONG again. J/K.

Your right it's got more in it. I just dont have the time to run it. I did finish the 12pt cage with halo bar and front downtubes. maybe before the kids come in dec I'll get a chance to make a few pass's. if not who knows when I'll get another chance to run it.

BTW when I started I was happy with mid 10's. With the runs I've made I know thats easily attainable. New goal is high 9's.

My truck next year will be fast in a balanced sort of way, meaning fast handling, braking and accelerating. I am in the process of installing a 282 CID aluminum bowtie motor over the winter and the overall truck weight will be around 3100 lbs when complete. The engine is built for reliablilty rather than all out performance so I'll be using a smaller turbo and injectors. I'm hoping with the right tuning I'll be breaking into the 10's which will be more than fast enough for what I need.

  • Roberts Sy
Well we know Robert is rebuilding his motor after it let go at the King of Europe. I find it histerical that the KoE title was passed from robert's Syclone to the Polish Typhoon (turbo V8). Robert will need some time to retune i'm sure, but seems to get everything situated quickly, i wouldn't be surprised if we see numbers real soon anyway
  • Ex-Hoover Sy
truck is for sale (still?) so i'll venture a guess we won't see any times from it this season. went 9.000000000000003 for its best so far...but new drivers are going to have a learning curve, plus the thing eats trannies like they're gummy worms
  • Ed Hess Sy
he's been quiet too long. I found a vid of him racing to the 330 and drifting to a 13.2 @ 67mph
    http://video.godragracing.com/atco/6_21_07_850index/HessQual.wmv
So i'm hoping he gets his gremlins figured out and blasts out the first US 8sec V6 AWD syclone pass.
  • Protosy's Twin turbo V8 syclone
he took me for a joyride in it out in Detroit. Easily the fastest truck i've ridden in. Hopefully he gets his minor leak situatued, and gets that beast tuned for 26psi instead of the girly 15psi and can keep the thing straight down the track. I say easy 8.8s/better from that (much better motor since the carbed version went low 9s)
  • Jason Leach's Pro mod syclone
I just assumed that this would be the fastest V6 turbo syclone ever until i saw other similar trucks pop out of the woodwork. Unfortunately as far as i know its only ever idled. Hopefully thats not true and its secretly being tuned or running somewhere - i'd love to see this thing in action.
  • The Callahan Syclone
I think this truck is just plain tits. I probably spent the most time w/ my head in this truck than any other truck at homecoming - partially becuase i never knew/heard anything about it, but mostly becuase its badass. I would love to see Callahan vs. Leach. Considering Callahan trailered it from alabama to michigan just so us minions could SEE the truck (he never ever fired it up while there), i'd venture to say he could be persuaded to meet Leach at the track if Leach's truck is ever ready/willing/able.
  • Gerber's RWD typhoon
Fastest 'looking' Typhoon i can think of. I'm anxiously awaiting this thing being buttoned up and hitting the strip. This truck is only going to be fast becuase it has my rear bumper brackets on it
  • Tom Ferrick's RWD typhoon
Fastest known Typhoon to this point. He put out a challenge to the swedes, but wasn't willing to meet anywhere but his home track. Would love to know more about this truck or see it run. Ferrick vs Gerber would be sweet....but i'd settle for Hess vs Ferrick since they race at the same track
  • Syborg
the fastest looking Sonoma GT. Hopefully Marty isn't afraid to race a truck that has the same $ into the paint as most 10 second trucks.
  • Ghettosled
thanks for the shakedown video months ago....how about some full pass videos/timeslips. First fast truck to share a dyno vid at full power though
  • Bully Syclone
Most of us got to watch him limp it down the track to some painful 10s...obviously has WAY more in it. Blew the heads off, but was rebuilding last i knew. Get that thing running!
So lets see some #s from these fast trucks. Please. There are lots of other trucks that i have limited knowledge of...badnewz, bezerker, nightdiver, and a handful of other twin turbo trucks out there.

Its great that these owners aren't building their trucks just to show off to everyone else how deep their pockets are or just to one up the next guy. I commend that....but at least share the fun in your fast passes. If you don't have a video camera, post to the board when you're going to run and at what tracks - i can gaurantee plenty of syty owners would show up and watch!

what other fast trucks are we all waiting to see run? I'm sure i missed a bunch.

Didn't you buy that motor off ebay with the splayed valve heads? If so what are you doing with the heads are they on the alum motor? I believe that motor had an alum block too.

Funny how it always ends up that way aint it?

There is a pristine Syclone at a respected fabricator in San Antonio that is getting the "works." I walked into the shop (sub for Murillo Motorsports) after a word of mouth recommendation and was surprised to find a Syclone among the turbo Camaros, vettes and mustangs in various states of build. The quality of fabrication was amazing. The Sy owner lives in Austin Texas and well thats about all I will say...

Actually, I knew the guy selling it and he wanted to throw it up on ebay first, but I told him all along if it didn't sell I wanted it. It has lil Brodie Brodix straight plug aluminum heads and aluminum block. Gorden Jennings built that motor, but lost interest in the Sy/Ty thing. I got it for about half finished price. Probably in the $30K range to have that motor built today including parts/labor.

CONGRATULATIONS John!
It must have been Fate that allowed you to pick a Typhoon (over a Sy) which accomdates TWO CAR SEATS in the rear, and their proud parents in the front!
