23 Degree Bowtie Aluminum Heads FS

I have 3 (that's right, three) bare Chevy "Bowtie" aluminum 23 degree cylinder heads for 90 degree V6's. These heads have never been assembled, and have never been torqued to a block. They have been lightly bolted onto a block for mock-up purposes only. 2 of the 3 have been gasket matched to an Edelbrock 2111 intake manifold and have had very light bowl work. The third head is 100% box stock. These heads will allow a stock Sy/Ty intake to bolt directly on, no machining or adapters required.

These are GM part# 14044802, casting # 14011053. These heads were discontinued by GM Performance Parts in the mid 90's. Again, these heads have never been assembled, they are essentially virgin castings, with iron valve guides and hardened seats. They use 2.02" intake and 1.60" exhaust valves. They are 61cc combustion chambers.

These heads are not drilled for the later "Vortec" style intakes, they are for the 6-bolt pre-Vortec manifolds. These are angle-plug heads and will require a proper set of headers to work with the angle plugs. They use 3/8" screw-in rocker studs. These are NOT the raised runner heads, not the Pontiac heads, not the Brodix heads. These are PN 14044802, which use standard intake and exhaust port locations and standard length valves. These heads also use standard stud-type rockers and standard GM guideplates for the pushrods (#14011051 and #14011057 guideplates)

It is my understanding that these heads should be popular with the Sy/Ty crowd, as they are essentially bolt-on and only require headers which will accomodate the angled plug locations.

Here is a link to some pics of one of the actual heads. This head has been gasket matched and very light bowl work (visible in photos). The other 2 heads are identical part#'s. One of the others has been gasket matched and had the same bowl work. The 3rd head is 100% box stock.

$750 for all three heads, including a collection of new-in-box GM valve springs and retainers, all of the intake valves (new in box). I don't have the exhaust valves.

Nice heads !

Just a FYI , I have a set of rpm headers that would bolt right up for whoever buys these .

How much gain compared to stock and vortec heads?Or are these only stock style heads in aluminium?

@ Tylex - I don't have any flow numbers or HP numbers, but these are the same heads used back when the Nascar Busch Series ran V6 engines. I believe the CC's and the valve sizes alone will slightly increase compression and flow. The comustion chamber is redesigned for better flow with bigger valves, and incorporates the angled plug location.

One of the more experienced engine builders may be able to provide more concrete numbers with respect to HP potential.

anyone know what headers and intake will work with these?

Sycho:
Any stock or aftermarket 23 degree non-Vortec intake will work with these heads. As far as headers, they are going to have to work with the angled plug locations - the header suppliers may be able to tell you for sure.

With the 61cc combustion chamber and the fact the heads are aluminum you're looking at a higher compression head. My main question is how do these flow compared to a set of Vortecs with 2.02 and 1.60 valves?

Thanks!
