Air filter

I just ordered an odyssey battery to mount sideways in the stock battery tray or under it. I wanted to just turn the cobra elbow and connect it to the filter with a small piece of straight pipe. For all those who have done this, what size filter could i fit in that spot?

Re: Air filter

I'd recommend going with the PC925 just to help prevent any issues... the pc680 is a great battery and has nice starting power but it lacks dwell so if you have allot of accessories or stereo stuff you'll be running it hard.. and if your truck sits for long periods of time and has a slight drain you'll need to jump start it etc

Re: Air filter

I have the 925 in my Talon and agree, Ryan. A friend has the 680 in his Lancer and it does as you describe.

Re: Air filter

Just FYI

To avoid rundown probs when not driving for any extended period just get a Battery Tender. Works great, won't cook the bat.

I have been running an 8 inch cone K&N part number RE-0910 on my truck for eight years now. When I was tock turbo:

"DIY air intake K&N filter, Bob Galla turbo to IC pipe and HKS SSBOV. Remote trans filter w/trans temp gauge sender is below air filter."

Now with PTE big shaft turbo:

I make my own adapter tubes. The only thing that I don't do is weld the bung on for the PCV. Always have that done professionally...

"3" mill finish tubing for K&N air filter to turbo intake tube before and after polishing."

Do you sell those adapter tubes with the PCV valve bung?

Where do you have your battery?

Re: Air filter

I started to tear everything out that was in my way and find a way to put it all back together today. The trans line is in my way so i'll have to re-route it. I’m having trouble finding a spot to mount the 680 on the wheel well. How is everyone mounting it?

No not at the moment but I may if there is interest. What do you think would be a fair price? Bungs are way easy to make out of round stock when you have access to a lathe...

In the fenderwell via an ATR battery relocation kit that is no longer made:

There is a member who made reporduction kits. You can see them here. There is a "how to" in the tech articles (everyone seems to forget that it exists) that you can read about here too.

Hey Mike did your truck just happen to be on jack stands with the wheels off when you snuck into the garage to get some pics for this thread? :rotf:

If they are old pics, it just wouldn't be that funny :D

FWIW......I know where a new in box ATR kit is ;)

Not to jack the thread, but how does a guy get rid of the vaccum ball?

Im moving mine to the other side of the engine bay where the stock air filter used to be. If you wanted to get rid of it you could just follor it up to the vcuum T and plug it off.

Re: Air filter

I made one out of a short section of PCV and 2 PVC caps. Drilled a hole in the side and set it down in the very bottom of the fender well under the bat. I "secured" it by wedging in a piece of foam. My alky pump is down there also. Works great. In this pic of the pump it went in just ahead of the pump.

Cost of materials, what you think is a fair labor rate (ie worth your effort), plus time time for shipping. :)

Atleast that is what I am usually willing to pay.

Nope, my truck is in 99.995% running order

! A member was curious what the ATR setup looked like since it's hard to imagine. So, I went out into the garage and took my truck apart to get some pics. I do it pretty often, that's why I know so many of the fastener sizes
