C6 ZO6 brakes and wheel project

Nothing earth shattering here, just thought I'd share.

18 x 9.5 front with a 57 mm offset. Looks like I'm going to need some .500 spacers to clear the calipers though. It will make the front wheels stick out slightly, but thats the price you pay to get these calipers on the truck. CBR c5 front conversion brackets of course.

Haven't tackled the rear yet, plan is to use some ls1 camaro mounts, we'll see.

Oh and kind of like a where's waldo syty pic, can you count them all?

Do you have a better side shot (the whole side) with the Range Rover vents?

Nope, these are the only pics of this truck that I have. When it's back on it's wheels I'll get some better ones.

13" or 14" rotors?

I've got these same calipers and I believe the 14.1 rotor is all we can use. I haven't mounted mine up yet. ..but I do have the 5-spoke Vette wheel in 18x9.5 mounted on all corners.Reps of course in that config. with a 1.25 rear spacer/adapter. Awesome fit and stance.

I had just painted / wetsanded and hung a new fender in this shot..so I haven't polished the paint if your wondering why the dull fender ? ;) You can see up top a small area I did buff. I really like them , although it did force me to paint the cladding an Artic Grey (BMW color) due to the over blingy chrome, lol. :( :) My old semi-gloss cladding was looking REAL tired and I just couldn't keep it looking good enough.

Love your grey wheels man ! I hope we can get a decent source for the 12 tiny brake pads for the calipers though.
Cheers,Vinny

Truckless. For now.
Re: C6 ZO6 brakes and wheel project

[hijack] looking good Vinny! I dig the color of the cladding... I was thinking of going VW Platinum Gray (ie. Sy1177) on mine, but I'm rethinking my options. [/hijack]

Those brakes will stop that truck good on the jackstands  :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Looking good!

DAMN that looks hard!

It's actually been fairly easy so far ;)

I must confess this paticular truck isn't one of my fleet. It belongs to a friend who owns a bodyshop and has taken care of me on more than one occasion.

I need to recheck my measurements before I order the spacers, nothing worse than ordering a custom piece that's wrong but it should come together pretty quickly.

What are most of you brake swappers using for rear lines and hoses?

Actually Hard is refering to the looks, it means the same thing as tuff or cool, but only more masculine form of either, it supercedes both though. its west coast slang for really nice and tuff, sorry for the mix-up

Hmm, you are good.

If you want to get picky there are two blacks, one 92, one 93. One red/red, one garnet/grey, the last typhoon was originally white, but is now a custom greyish sort of colour and indeed one lonely sy.

I think you should get extra points for knowing the original colour of the last Ty, you must have ESPN or something :rotf:

Anyone want to buy one of the above, please?

Ive been thinking of brake upgrades for my Sy. besides the spacers what else needs to be changed for the Z06 wheels and brakes to make it work?

Overall it went fairly easy. Used Kore3s brackets for the rear with thier rear hose kit. All nice stuff BTW, quick shipping and good service.

Had Skulte make me a hubcentric 1/2"spacer to get the front wheels to clear the calipers. Stock vettes use a +40 wheel, these were +57's hence the spacer. The front wheel and tire ended up almost dead even with the cladding this way, a +40 would have hung out just a bit. The spacers turned out very nice as well, would highly recommend Andris at Skulte to anyone, very good service. To get the wheels on I also had to install longer studs in the hubs, ARP had some that fit perfectly, application is for an F-body I can get the part number if anyone is interested.

Of course I used CBR brackets for the front as well, had to do some minor clearancing of the bracket to get the brake hose and bolt to fit.

The truck stops on a dime now, looks pretty cool too.

Cheers all.

Syclone Rob

Its all ABOOT the SYTY eh
Re: C6 ZO6 brakes and wheel project

Tony, the part number for the arp studs would be great.... also, the rear brake kit, would that kit also work for the ls1 calipers? or does kore3s make a kit that would work?

The ARP # is 100-7708, they come in a 5 pack.

From what I have gathered the LS1 camaro rear brakes are a different offset than the vette stuff. So no I doubt that the ones I used would work. The brackets I have are thier 10/12 bolt kit and would work for pretty much any c5/c6 rear brakes. Only problem is you lose the rear e-brake.

I do have a complete rear brake setup from an ls1 camaro, rotors, calipers, mounts, cables, etc if your interested. I was going to put them on the sy but might just get baers to match the front.
