Ok so in various build threads ive seen guys talk about plans to modify ctsv brakes to fit under a 17" wheel... ive seen a bunch of guys start the modification attempt but havent seen anyone finish it. I love my wagon wheels and like the 17 in the front but wanted to do coil overs and brembos this summer. I wanted to see if maybe somone got it figured out and 100% functional

Give me another 2 weeks or so. Rotors are at the machine shop right now. I have some 17" wagons I can try as well. There are some pics in my build thread

Re: ctsv brakes under a 17" wheel

I gave up on mine... I was gonna use Camaro SS rear (Smaller than the fronts) Brembos on the front of my Sy with C6 Corvette 13.4" Z51 rotors but low and behold the Brembo rear calipers are designed for 1" thick rotors and the Z51 13.4" rotors are 1.25" thick... I probably could have machined out the calipers to fit the thicker rotor but I wanted a brake system that I could source "stock" parts for in the future if anything ever crapped out...

I decided to stay with the 12.8" C5 PBR set-up that I already have because like you, I love my 17" wheels...

Good luck...

I hate c5 pbr calipers haha. I remembered you were one of the guys trying it. I have 18s in the rear so i just need to figure out the front.

I love the brembos on my V, if worse comes to worse i can get another set of wagons and run the 18s all around but i like the staggered look.

The brembo caliper has a ton of material in it. I figured grinding the high spots on it and modifying the brackets to sit lower on the rotor would work. Depending on the wheel some 17s barely rub the caliper it shouldnt take much to get the clearance.

I am going to be modding my renz brackets and I am also running a 2010 camaro ss front rotor. The wagon wheels will require a small spacer in the front to clear the spokes. I run 18 wagons on my truck as well.

Almost there....

17" C6 Z06 reproduction wheel. Need another 1/8" or so of clearance. Already milled a ton of material off the top of the caliper and .150" off the bracket. Gonna mill another .150 off the bracket now and see where that gets me.

looks awesome man if it works out ill do this to my ty, I just saw like 5 or 6 people try this then give up so I didn't want to invest the cash for the parts to just sit on my shelf

Wagon wheels will not work with these brakes. The spokes are too thick and hit the caliper bad. It would take around a 1" spacer in the front to clear the caliper. This is both 17" and 18" wagon wheels.

Reproduction C6 Z06 wheels will fit with a 1/2" spacer. I have ARP wheel studs that are .75" longer than stock so that will work for me. The wheel will stick out the .5" more obviously though. This is for 17" and 18" wheels again.

I ended up bringing the caliper in .300" more along with milling the outside AND inside of the caliper to clear the 17" wheel. Now that I've done one side, I can tell you it is NOT worth the effort to clear a 17" wheel. Just buy 18s that will work with these brakes or go for a different aftermarket brake setup in the front. The CTS-V rear setup will clear 17" without the above mods.

Not looking forward to doing this all again on the other side.

It's just a six

Nice looking!

Forgive my ignorance, what size rotor are those?

Have any pics of all of what was done to the components? Caliper, bracket etc.

Thank you.

2010 Camaro SS rotor. 14" same as C6 Z06 rotors in diameter. Ill snap some pics of everything once I have it apart again.

Even with all the work, WOW! A 14" rotor under a 17" wheel is awesome!
