I think my trans is toast. Can someone identify my symptoms?

Started out not wanting to go into overdrive when driving normal. If i reved it up it would go into od. This seemed to happen more often when it was hot or after a short run with 50% throttle. I have never floored this thing or put it past like 10lbs of boost since Ive been tuning it slowly being cautious of knock and such. The last time i drove it, it wouldnt shift into any gear past 1st. fluid smells burnt. The tranny has 100 miles or so on it since a rebuild. It always seemed a bit soft on the shifts except when manual shifting. Is there anything that would make me at fault?? I ask because this thing has a year warranty and i want to make sure i did everything i was supposed to. Fluid level was a 1/4 of an inch above the full mark on dipstick, Dex III fluid, -6 tranny lines into a cooler w fan mounted where the stock cche was. Shifted through all gears fine wether in park or driving til now.

Who built the trans? what are your shift points?

Burnt oil should be changed right away.

What would happen if you let off the gas, would it shift? Have you adjusted the TV cable?

As far as shift points, I never floored it. Norm driving they were in the low 2000 rpm range being light on the pedal.

If i let of the gas it would just coast. then i would hit the gas and it would come up to like 3000 rpm and start moving again up the rpms.

When i originally installed the trans i set the tv cable like this:

set the adjuster
opened throttle all the way
closed throttle

It was a little while ago but i followed directions from a post i searched on the board here

Sounds like your bands are wasted. Take it back to where you got it from. Get with George Blake or John Waller (blake is closer for you) for one of their trans'.

Substandard parts don't work well in these trucks.

I just checked the tv cable again and it went back to the same spot maybe 1/16 of an inch more then where it was before. Pretty much the same spot. Is that normal? I havnt checked it since before i drove it for the first time 100 miles ago. Would it have moved to a different spot now? Would too much pressure fry this thing out? It was a little stiff going from park to drive but the rpms were floating at 1500rpm. Gotta work that out in the tune i guess
