what is with you and kosher, sacrilege and devaluing things? you can't devalue something that isnt worth anything in the first place. Its just a truck, do what you want with it, its not like someone else couldn't repaint it back to original if you were to sell it.

Do what ever you want. Your ultimate goal seems to be resale so I'm guessing your not looking at buying a low mile all original gem. Spend $10,000 on a TY, spend $3,000 on mods like you want and have a $10,000 TY when your done. Unless the mods are done Bubba style, then you have a $3,000 TY.

well geez guys calm down... just asking. Coming from the world of 60's muscle car's where you change a chrome bumper off for a painted one drops the price $5k.. just thought I'd ask.
Some day weither you like it or not, these trucks will be worth something to some one... just look at the Camaro market now for example.. thirdgen's are on the rise... the bastard 70's camaros that no one wanted are skyrocketing.. hell even the lame 70's Toyota's are surging.. so i thought id ask..

you've been on this site for 10 years and now you're worried about the value of a truck if you paint the cladding?? 75% of these trucks that are alive don't have original paint or have had parts painted before for some reason.
paint isn't permanent, if you can paint it one color, someone else can put it back. if you're worried about flipping it for profit, then you're in the wrong market all together

To a collector... YES. It will devalue a vehicle. ORIGINAL, Unmolested, Low Milage. That is what a collector is looking for. Any time someone decides to change something on an original factory vehicle. That something, now falls into the category of NOT ORIGINAL. There are some things that you can get away with by replacing it with OEM parts that are numbered for that specific vehicle. But even that has to be done as it was from the factory to be classified as a 100% Factory Original Vehicle. For example. Auto judging on an original paint. Even if it is faded and pealing. It is still original and worth more on paper than a repaint. Even if that "worth more" is just a check mark that states Original Paint. It would make that vehicle a higher percentage original vehicle.
To the general public. It is worth more with a quality re-paint.
Your SyTy is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
Most people on here will tell you, "That collector does not exist" and "do what ever you want to your your SyTy".

Yes it will devalue it. Mine that is painted factory color is devalued, when buying it I wouldn't pay what it would have been worth had it been original.
Stating that it isn't worth crap now is what they said about 60s vintage muscle cars in the 70s and 80s; look what they are worth now. Ultimately you can do what you want, but you're killing its value by even painting it (unless it's a total crap shoot now too). Painting the cladding a different color does remove some value, but being such a small part it can easily be repainted, unlike the entire body.
I like small things changed (air intakes/catbacks) but never substantially modify a car that I feel will someday have decent value. I'm a paint marks, original bolts (not damaged by wrenches either), lower mileage type of collector/person.
