Launch question

Re: Launch question

Are you guys doing the neutral and back boost launch or just stalling it up at the line for the 1.7's?

Stab it and steer it
Re: Launch question

FWITW I can build boost at the line if I want. Stage, neutral, brakes on hard, rev for additional vac brakes on harder, build boost, launch sideways. If I don't build boost, (boost gauge at "0.") I actually get better 60' times. HOWEVER, just had the fluid changed in the transfer case, did a test launch and it seems to launch better. Prolly wishful thinking but no racing 'till next week so I'm gonna wait and see what happens.

Re: Launch question

When i launch i start spinning the backs at about 5#, and i drop the brakes at about 7#, and it goes squirrely for probably 10 feet ( i assume i'm spinning all 4s, cause the front wants to drift).

BTW: Stockish truck. and i'm doing the neutral, build vacuum launching.

If you toasted your viscous, changing fluid won't help a thing.

Have someone take video... that'll give you the answers you need. Put a stripe of tape on the front and the back tire, or shoe polish, so you can watch the revolutions in slow motion.

Also, if you're spinning the rears on the line, your 60-foot is already shot. Your rear suspension can't react with spinning tires. Better to launch softer than let the rears spin on the line.

With the stock Firebricks, I couldn't leave with more than 2-3 psi on the old setup (20g, stock motor). 2.x 60-foots if I did.

I could leave with 10-15 psi on the Hoosiers, if I had 'em warmed up right. 1.68 60-foots.
Any more than that, and they'd fry too.

Only takes a few rides in a GN with street radials to appreciate the traction we have...

Like slipping or what?

He wouldn't be cutting 1.7's on those tires if it was RWD only.

I just assumed that a stockish truck wouldnt have that bad of traction issues if the AWD was working properly.
