Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

who cares what it looks like. I would hope he's more concerned about function over form at these speeds/power levels.

I just question why mess with the aerodynamics when the truck went straight as an arrow before and had no traction problems anywhere on the track. I would think the advantage of awd is not being as concerned with downforce

Yea, I agree. Just think though, he is adding like another 300+ horse power right? Maybe he won't go straight anymore hahaha.

Sorry but the wing looks stupid..

Unbelievable! The thread is alive :) Much noise about a wing and the look. Is the Syclone the worlds best looking truck? It´s a square truck from -91 :) The means will justify the look (sometimes) :)It´s placed there for a reason. If it´s not gonna work I will remove it. Those whoe does´nt like it, look away :) Abot the old promod style wing, there has been problems with the parashoot, safety first :)Look at the new wings , what the promod and nascar guys start to run with. I agree, not the best looking wing, but hopefully it will fulfil it´s purpose. What I told you before, this is a working picture, it´s far away from ready.

Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

i'd be more concerned with the tonneau cover itself and how its wavy/has gaps between the bed rails...than affixing a wing to it.

Is the tonneau complete? Or are you still in the middle of making that?

We just got the alu panels and just started to work it down on the bed, we´re gona use the orginal cover ontop of the alu "sheets" this is going to make the truck even sturdier to the force/torq on it.

And Mike Ur right about erlyer times, the truck whent straight as an arrow, BUT now last season AND the 8,85 time and speed, the trip down the track IS starting to be more wiggeling, the brute force on 2´nd gear is chirpin the tires all the way down from 330 feet past 660 feet so we need to put some pressure on the rear.

And also make sure the truck continues to be stable and straight as an arrow on flight :D

Good pic on the pickup, but I have some more info on the aerodynamiks on trucks with Syclone dimesions and we´re about to test this wing. Think its gona work good

Main reason for THIS wing, besides "Dare to be different" :) its gona be a snap to remove it because it will not be on for street use, and towing.. Its a "Race only" device like the shute

Why we didnt go for the standard "Pro stock" wing, is we think its uggly on this truck

Stupid?? its funktion we´re after in first place, and how on earth are U gona get some development on things IF someone did´nt try something different??

Monkey see, monkey do? in that case we still would be cavemen all together..

I mean , We did´nt just buy a wing from japaneese store just like that, we did some research on the subjet at first, on wings, aerodynamics, benefits and rules..

NHRA have anounsed a rule change about the rear wings and Shutes, this wing solved that in an instant

sleek and aerodynamic explains all but the syclone . low rooftop helps get that airflow where they need it to be on the track .

you may have to raise that wing in order for it to do you any good . kudos to you for trying something new .

all you can do from here is see if it helps .

Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

As nova says here the car is fast now and we saw that it has started to wiggle and robert has pointed this out last season and we did some brainstorm and how we could get this problem solved. So it is not for the looks it is to push rear end down to make it purpose as a wing should do...

Mike it is the jack handle that is sticking out...

Although I doubt any of us syty guys are "wing" guys I also know Robert and his crew didn't just say hey a wing will look cool. I suspect a lot of coffee was consumed before the purchase.

Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

All I said it looks stupid in my eyes. my .02 Saying I would not put it on my truck even if it did work. Because here in the states you would laughed out of the track, but backing up the wing with A 8 second pass would make up for the looks of the wing & shut them up really quick. It is great if it all about fuction for YOU. I do belive the style in overseas are really different from the states for sure. I hope the thing works out for ya..

Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

when speaking of aerodynamics would under-body panels help at all? a diffuser on the front bumper cover?

We´ve been into that aeria too, and still brainstorming on the subject.

But theres also a much easyer way out of that "trix", BUT as always we have to test it first.
