Re: overboost
I ran the truck once or twice before with a scan tool and it was only getting 1-2* of KR at WOT, maybe mostly on the shifts, I can recheck this. It still has the cat in the truck, the turbo I got from Waller has the WG ported so from his info he said I can run even without a cat and shouldn't have a issue, but at present its still in the truck.
Yes, its a Autometer, it's only a 20psi gauge so I can see fairly easily exactly what psi I'm at to the 1/2psi.
My FP is set a 42.5 psi, but at present I don't have a adjustable FPR, nor a gauge so I can't honestly tell you if the FP is raising with the boost like it's supposed to.
What would be a sign I could look for, KR???
I replaced all the vac. lines about 6-8 months ago, I can definitly go through and do it again.
I just did this on accident the other day and yes at a 1/4 throttle it jumps right to 15psi.
About 6-8 months ago, might be time to do again, I did run it down to Cali this last summer and it was 120* and it didn't like it at all, maybe something got cooked??
Thanx for the help with this guys!
EDIT: What do I need to do to get the base boost set at 8psi, the is wg actuator rod is screwed all the way in and only makes 5-6psi, now what?
dirtdemon said:IMO ghettosled is right when he says knock can cause that, also a cat-delete can bring the stock WG to it's limit (ask me *gg*) and cause such issue.

dirtdemon said:please answer me again - do you have an aftermarket boostgauge (how sharp are the measurements) ?

dirtdemon said:crappy boost can also be caused by bad solenoid (sometimes), are you sure your FP / AFPR does fine ?

dirtdemon said:if so - go back to start and test the vac - easily when engine warm , at idle : spray all your vaclines w/ brake-cleaner or carb-cleaner and listen for different idle - if then idle goes up youre the winner - fawked vac-system ...

dirtdemon said:disconnect the vacline from solenoid to actuator (WG = enalbled) - build boost , NO wot, easy on the right leg - see if it makes 15psi ... if not it should be a boost leak and boost is creeping > WG is fawked or way out of tolerance - if it does fine - do the vac
