I would like to find out were I can get a Stock wastegate.. My truck is all stock got a 3'' exuast from DP.. my wastegate has never worked, even when i disconnect it. I still get Full+ more boost.. I was thinking if I can replace the Stock(possibly trashed wastegate) I can fix this problem..

so I'm looking for a Cheap working Stock Wastegate..

Re: Stock Wastegate

The wastegate itself is integral to the exhaust housing. Do you mean the wastegate actuator? (pneumatic actuator on the turbo itself)

When you say that it doesn't work when disconnected, what have you disconnected?
-The wastegate actuator from the wastegate?
-The boost source from the actuator?
-The wire/plug from the boost control solenoid?

Re: Stock Wastegate

yea, I mean the wastegate actuator.. I disconected the rod that goes from that to the little flapper..also i have a Boost valve boost controler with the lowest spring on it, and when I take out the spring( so noboost) or very little should come.. I get more, and Overboost

Before I had the boost valve controler. I disconnected the solenoid witch should have only given me about 8lbs. boost..I still got full boost.

Re: Stock Wastegate

So your wastegate itself is sticking in the exhaust housing. I don't think anyone is going to have 'just' the wastegate, but you might find someone with a complete exhaust side if they have a blown turbo. You might do a search for some of Dig's posts - he said he routinely has a 'stuck' wastegate and uses some sort of spray to loosen it.

Depends on your goals/finances on how best to sort this out.

Want to go faster? This is somewhat decent justification for a bigger turbo, if you've been waiting for a reason :)
Have good mechanical skills and little money? Tear the turbo off and start figuring out why the wastegate sticks, and how to best resolve that. Maybe one of the turbo specialists can work on it, port it, and so forth.

yea there is a new speed shop by my dads, I was thinking of taking the turbo three once i got it all off. Just to see if they could make it any bigger or port it like u say.. what can a stock turbo be ported out to be any ideas?

Re: Stock Wastegate

wire it shut, put an external on the crossover then when your tired of it just go with a bigger turbo like a GT35R with TiAL V-band housing.

It can be ported out to have a better flowing wastegate. As far as porting the turbo, you can do a little bit of work as far as port matching the housing to the exhaust manifold, not sure of what other work you can do to a stocker. Minimal gains.

If you have money to throw at the problem, Scott's suggestion is a good one.
