Typhoon, or TBSS please help!!!!!!

I recently sold my 2006 xtreme due to the fact that my truck was a regular cab and I need more room for my newest member of my family. Now that Ive sold the Truck I am stuck between three choices in cars.

1. Do I buy a $30K dollar TBSS and haul ass but pay every month?
and let my wife drive it while I drive a POS corolla?
2. Do I buy an 02 blazer and drop a LS1 engine when I gather enough funds,
and also get my wife a little $15k car.
3. Or do I buy a typhoon and also get my wife a $15K car

If I get the TBSS I will probably only drive it on the weekend because my wife will have it during the week, and if I get the Blazer I will be in the same position as I was when I had the Xtreme, "a slow, average Vehicle" untill I get the Swap, heaven knows when. But if I get the typhoon It will be fair for me and my wife. My only concern now is how available are the parts.
I am going to go look at a typhoon today, if you guys can give me advice on what to look for when I go see the Ty to make sure its in good condition.

Any help I would greatly appreciate it.

Swap = no. You've already said it yourself - you don't know when you'll have the time/money.

Typhoon has some advantages over the TBSS. Price being a big one. Quicker.

TBSS - more refined. LS2. More vendor support. Warranty :) Rides much better.

Re: Typhoon, or TBSS please help!!!!!!

if you baby your Ty, it will not play tricks on you and your Wallet...if you want to show off and race everything you see on the road, be prep. to spent cash updating your 16 yr old car with new tech. that can take that abusing..

either way, i think my White truck costed me 15K alltogether...and i can beat the shit out of it everyday without worrying it will brake (crossing fingers).

altough i hate to get loans for cars.. don't get into deep

Still plays with trucks
Re: Typhoon, or TBSS please help!!!!!!

I have both a ty and the wifes tbss. These trucks are TOYS!!!! Most people would not daily drive them, and I would not suggest it either...... :2cents:

Also were do you live as syty's rust pretty easily in the winter......

I have owned 2 daily driven typhoons and own a TBSS. You can daily drive a ty if you can resist modding it. I live in NJ and my white/white ty now owned my a current forum member is/was one the cleanest trucks around. BTW it was never garaged. The TBSS is not fun to drive and seems slow comapred to the TY. Get a TY. Exclusive, and bad azz. You won't regret it.

Re: Typhoon, or TBSS please help!!!!!!

i am keeping an eye on this thread, because i am resisting the urge to get a tbss instead of a ty. i dont want a tbss, but the wife wants me to get one, cause they will be more reliable...

Re: Typhoon, or TBSS please help!!!!!!

Resist if you want, but you said you have "a new member of your family." I'm assuming a child. Truck/car safety has come a long way since 1993. Typhoons are "old school" when it comes to safety: NO air bags, ABS that will fail at some point, non-existent headrests in the back (both my kids' heads are above the backseat...not good), bad (but upgradable) brakes, etc. etc. I am not saying they are dangerous per se, but compared to modern vehicles, they are dinosaurs.

Find yourself an SRT Jeep and you'll be more than happy...and have a warranty.

Re: Typhoon, or TBSS please help!!!!!!

The ride is much better on the TBSS over a Ty or GC SRT8. Even a used GC you're looking @ 35K+.

I will agree w/Mike - the Ty was much more fun to drive - In a straight line under 80mph. The SS is far more stable at speed.

It is kind of an apples/oranges comparison.

Re: Typhoon, or TBSS please help!!!!!!

Thanks alot for all the advice. I really like the TBSS but the Typhoon is like mad mike said, "more exclusive" I just dont want to spend 11K on it then have to put 5k on top of that to make the vehicle reliable. Im going to check the ty out today; is there anything I should keep in mind when I go test drive it? is there anything that you guys suggest I keep an eye out for when I go look at it to make sure its not an terrible condition engine wise? They say it has about 65K miles on the original engine. Thank you again for your replys.

X2 and once you add a supercharger and exhaust.....nothing but smiles. The Ty is quicker to 60, but not by much and the SS is faster and much more reliable....I hope. Only time will tell :)
