My dad bought this truck right off the show room floor. then quickly put 185,000 on before the motor went. Thats right, 185,000 on the stock motor, trans and turbo. Then they all went within 8,000 miles. Had everything rebuilt, then put 80,000 more miles before the thing started breaking every time he drove it. He was really upset after the tranny was re done because they put a stock 700R in it rather than the right one. We threw a shift kit in, but it just wasn't the same. I bought it from him, and over the years have thrown a ton of parts at it, but am finally only buying pieces I need to make this combination work. The truck is a basket case, and is really just painful to look at. I am hoping to get it running well enough to race at Nats, but if I do, I doubt I will be able to open the hood, because it will be UGLY. My dad then moved to a lightning (put 100K on it 2 years), and now has an 06 SRT 8 with 120K on it. He really likes to drive. I wish I had the money that he has put in fuel and tires on these three vehicles, I would probably have enough cash to do the bodywork on my Typhoon.
Ps, the truck is running pretty good now, not dieseling like it did while at Mikes gathering. Anyone available to help me tune some more, I am trying on my own but I can't make anything better than the base tune. (code 59 if there are any takers)
