Well i finally did it !!!I went to the track on OCT 30 (my birthday) made some passes on 103 and straight meth. My second pass 25 psi i felt the motor lay down at the top of 3rd gear. I let off the gas and coasted to a 11.20 119. On the return lane my truck looked like a Smoke machine. Back in the pits there was water pucking out the rad cap and overflow catch can. Well i figured i must of finally taken the cometic head gaskets to there limit. After veiwing my logs i can clearly see that i was running to lean 12.9 afrs. What i didnt take into consideration was when using strait meth you need to tune closer to 10.0-1. Too late. Tonight i had some extra energy so i pulled the top end apart and to my surprise the head gaskets looked ok!! After freaking out thinking my block craked of somthing worse i saw the problem. Cracked the head between the intake valve and coolant jacket right in the dome of the head (cylinder # 4). Son of a bitch! Dam those Cometic gaskets are tough.
So it looks like im in need of a new ported vortec head. Hopfully theres no more damage than that!! Im hoping Mike @ RPM has one sitting on the shelf for me. Fuk , i should of went to dinner on my birthday with my old lady instead i get 1500 bucks damage to my Truck. Thats racing i guess. Mabey ill look into some Brodies if the vortecs are not avalible.
