Bringing home Saudi Syclone 2792

Today marks 90 days since I saw my truck for the first time. On that cold February morning, as we huddled around the truck, the sunlight from the open door at the front of the barn struggled to reach all the way into the back. There in the rear, under car jackets and with bags of desiccant, sits a Saudi Syclone which has been tucked neatly away since the fall of 1998.

While there, I had the opportunity and pleasure to hear stories from the original owner, a GM engineer who worked on the project. I listened carefully, trying to lock into memory all the tips, tricks, and stories he offered. I also took some pictures, which can be viewed Here. With only 1,269 miles, the truck looks impressive.

Now 3 months later, the ice and snow have melted, and the Spring has arrived. On Sunday I will be going to pick up the truck and bring it home. Ken and Merk are giving me a hand, and anyone else in the area is welcome to join us. Check back Sunday night or Monday, as you can be sure there will be plenty more pictures (in the sunlight this time) and story to tell.

Nice find! I never saw one in Saudi when I lived there but wish my Dad had got one when he had the chance!

How much did you pay if you don't mind sharing?

What are your plans for it?

Mmmmm..... clean stocker. Nothing beats that new truck smell.

Is it me, or is there a '67 Merc Comet in the back of that barn?

Yeah, I couldn't resist. I thought it would be cool to have part of the Marlboro history. I don't quite have the 85k to have the whole thing, but the window is pretty cool.

Thanks! I don't mind saying, but being a newer member I am not sure how everyone feels about that. If everyone says it's fine then I will say. I'll ask around this weekend, but until then I'll say that the appraiser put it at 28.5k and he didn't take into account that it is a Saudi. I paid less than what it appraised at.

The truck is in Romeo. We're meeting up in Hazel Park (where I live) at 11:30 and going from there. Once we load it up, we'll be working on it out in Walled Lake.
You can PM me or email me your numbers and i'll give you a call.

Very nice truck, hope it's well preserved and not driven. Most are beat up with high miles at this point.
