Installing decals

I've got my new decal set and I'm ready to install them. I haven't figured out whether I want to do them myself or have a signs place do it. Either way, I was looking for measurements on where to exactly install the decals on a Sy. I found the placement for a Ty, but no Sy. I guess they're probably very similar, but I want to make sure. I'd like to get them EXACTLY where they were from the factory. Anyone have measurements or know of where I can find them?

That's what I found before. Those are for a Typhoon. I'm wondering if it's the same. Especially on the tailgate.

Those measurements don't even seem right. Not even for a Ty. Looking at all the picts, the letters appear to be about 3 inches from the top of the cladding on the side decals on a Sy and a Ty. not 1/2 inch. Anyone have the right measurements?

You're right...they're not right....I addressed that a while back in this thread after those instructions led me to install mine incorrectly.the vault thread needs to be updated. my only advice would be to measure from the top of the letters (instead of bottom) when doing typhoon decals and find yourself a local stock truck to compare to....that was an option I didn't have at the time....On my syclone, I just printed up a bunch of pics and eyeballed it IIRC....good luck....

as far as the syclone tailgate is concerned, find a vinyl sign company that has internet access and a good working knowledge of their software...I guided my local guy to an online syty gallery and we found a few rear syclone shots...we saved them to the desktop then he used a measuring tool in his software that gave us the exact dimensions of the decals and mounting location....we had to plug in actual measurements of my truck's tailgate to come up with this of course....we just walked outside and measured the tailgate length by height and those figures into his sign program....Jon Mirrado would know what I'm talking about... Thank god I was in my truck at the time.....

Anyone with a stock truck want to measure? I would, but mine was repainted some time ago.

Well, I had some time between jobs at work today, so I just slapped them on to where it looks right. Good enough. Oh well!

I just measured my unpainted Sy for the tailgate decals.

On MY truck it's as follows:

Syclone Decal - From the bottom of the gate to the bottom *edge of the Y and N is roughly 5.75" ( +/- 1/16 due to tailgate angle on bottom edge). From the Left edge of the tailgate to the *edge of the "S" is 2.75".

GMCTruck Decal - From the bottom of the tailgate to the bottom edge of the GMCTruck measures 6.5" ( +/- 1/16 due to tailgate angle on bottom edge). From the right edge of the tailgate to the tip of the "k" measures 6 1/8"

* the edge is referring to measuring up to where the actual decal begins on the black border, NOT the red lettering


This places both my decals in align with the reflector part of the tail lense as seen in this photo:

if someone would post up measurements from their Typhoon AND Syclone, I will be glad to make a new thread solely with that info and vault it.

A few measurements would help as we could figure out an average (if there is any) on both the tailgate and doors. Only stock unpainted trucks please.
