Watchout for?

As a new TY owner Im enjoying driving it every day. I dont have many people trying to race me since I live in a small hick town and everybody thinks its a BLAZER with a body kit. Anyhow, once in a while some random yahoo wants to try me.. I dont often waste my gas, and I drive the ty S L O W... I mean slow... 5 to 10 under the limit... I want give everyone the same chance to affix their pupils on a rare machine... (most dont know what they are looking at)

Anyhow.,,

I havent raced much with it, Ive only smoked a friends AVALANCHE and GTO. A few grains of RICE now and then...

Im wondering, since my TY is completely stock what cars should I NOT give the enjoyment of smoking my @$$. Id rather not race them and keep them wondering if you know what I mean

So far I read on another post that I should stay away from 04 Crapstang Cobras... What else is on the list? Just so I know

I am looking forward to race a mid 80'd Neon green dakota that smoked my 96 Impala SS... I think I can take him but I havent seen him driving arround lately.. That Dakota is built as it ate my SS w no problem.. It is a nice rig but I cant wait for the redemption...

Re: Whatchout for?

I'd say stay away from:
1.) Z06 vettes
2.) the newer 05 and up vettes( non Z06 cars)
3.) Vipers
4.) New Ferraris
5.) New Lamborhghinis - not sure if thats spelled right:roll:
6.) And of course heavily modded SY/TY's, but of course you already knew that.:D

Enough of the don't mess with list, get out there and win a few kills against some unsuspecting punks who have no idea what you have.

BTW nice kill on the GTO.

I'll pull up on anything that wants to go. There is always the chance if winning a race no matter if the other car has more HP, is worth 3x as much, or you think your about to get your ass handed to you.

Enjoy the truck. DRIVE IT.

Watch out for sneaky imports like RX7'sand stuff, they make lsx swaps for them and they are cheap to build. There are 2 guys near me with them and they are competing against each other for time in the 1/4. they both run a really really low 11, like in the bottom 1/10. Oh and they dont sound like anything till its too late.

Driven blocks? I call that pu$$y footing around, not driving.

If you ever make it out to Orlando FL, i'll take you out driving. Leave at 9pm and wont come home until 4-5am. We'll find some low and high speed roll ons, stop light launches and plenty opportunities to do some vulgar displays of horsepower into triple digits.

What makes it better is having people realize that they not just pulled up on 1 Syclone....but 2. Both me and Ian (SyTyArchives) usually go out and find the trouble. We get the fair share of people who have no clue, to others who know exactly whats up and wont step up.

Do you guys have similar builds? It would be awesome if you guys had twin trucks that killed everything.

From a dead stop...

AFter I walked away,, all he did was tail my ass all the way home... Never tried anything again.... If it is as you say he may have been an inexperienced driver... Cuz I walked away like he was driving an accord.. LOL...

Actually, for awhile, yes...we were running similar stock bolts ons, but then i went a2a, PTE52, open DP, wb02, 50#s. Ian still has stock IC, 20g and wb02, open exhaust, and it pulls hard.

Now that I have a working trans again, my POS is in need of a serious tune. Hood dumped Code59 in it at Shindig, and its only had a hour or 2 of tuning on it. Im dying to get it tuned so I can crank up boost. I need to find the time is the problem.

Re: Watchout for?

funny story time...

on the way to the Miami Wrench Session in January, we made a pitstop at one of the dirtiest McDonalds Ive ever been in. It was Ian and myself in our trucks, and Rox and Caroline in a red/red Ty.

I get up to get some napkins, Im wearing my Syclone shirt. Kid in line stops me to ask if that was my truck outside. I asked...which one? He said the one sitting outside... Yeah, which one, there are three? He says the red one. I told him yeah, thats mine..... actually, all 3 of them are mine. Kids eyes get huge and points at me and screams:

"GREEDY MOTHERF*CKER!"

Re: Watchout for?

well i would watch out for the real good running GN with some drag radials and subaru's and DSM's and evo's. I know of a some decent running honda's that hook-up from a dig.

My eagle talon FWD goes on pretty good from a dig.

My advice you just never know what the next car has till you try him.

I have had some sick looking crap smoke me before i ever realized what happened.

Re: Watchout for?

Make everybody play your game and you should be fine. From a stop on the street my Syclone would probably give my Camaro all it can handle as it can't hook. From a roll my Camaro will beat the crap out of my truck. Depends on where you play. In a syty you always have a chance of winning from a stop. The only thing sytys have to worry about is themselves with broken trans.

Re: Watchout for?

From a roll you have a lot of cars to watch out for. A stock Typhoon, will have problems with average V6 sedan.

If you willing to boost launch, I wouldn't be afraid to try much off the line. If you had a Sy or a few mod that would help your chances. The pressure is one the other car to hook up or if its an AWD DSM, Evo, STi they have to do a high RPM launch. Even a RWD vehicle on DR, they still have to do their DR burn out routine, (Unlikely for a random stop light race).

If you going to boost luanch it, I would 'watch out' for a broken transmission, propshaft and motor mounts.

Re: Watchout for?

agree that you just never know what you're running against...bought my subie wagon for the same reason a lot of folks bought their SyTy's...looks like a plain jane commuter (minus the ssr's and a bit lower from coilovers,) and the look on the face almost anyone I mess with is priceless
