Dash jacked up after jump starting?

THIS IS FOR A 99 S10 BLAZER

I brought the blazer out of the garage for the first time since I put her away for the winter and jump started her.

The battery light is on (understandable), the fuel gauge reads empty and the light is on even though I have gas, and the digital gear thingy centered under the speedo and tach doesn't light up except for in park.

The blazer runs great and I thought the battery light would turn off after recharging the battery back up. I have been driving around so I know the alt is ok.

Are these dash problems fuse or relay related maybe? I haven't looked at anything yet.

Any troubleshooting tips are appreciated!

If the battery light is on, your not charging. Take a multimeter and see what voltage you have off the battery and off the back of the alternator, should have 1-1.5V over battery. As far as the gas gauge needle being on "E" and knowing you have gas in it maybe you should smack it around a little. The top of the dash that is. The needle may be stuck.

Ya, it's got a Turbo

Sounds like a mouse may have gotten into some wiring. What you're describing is not a common problem. I'd start looking at what these 3 things have in common. Perhaps a ground?

jumpstarting a car with a dead battery is hell on a alternator, check the fuses and fuseable links

Re: Dash jacked up after jump starting?

sounds like you have a bad cluster ign or acc fuse.those newer blazers have a few.

Re: Dash jacked up after jump starting?

my 95 s-10 acted funny when i got dead batteries and jump started it. It would mess with the gauges and it seemed really slugish. After charging up a little i would shut it off and restart and it would be fine. But this was a long time ago, this is all i remember

Re: Dash jacked up after jump starting?

I drove the blazer today hoping that the magical electrical fairies fixed the blazer overnight, but to no avail:(

I drove it around with a jacked up dash, got some new tail light bulbs because one of my blinkers had been out and changed them. Drove back home with a jacked up dash and decided to look at the fuses again. I visually looked at the fuses in the dash and under the hood (DIDN"T TOUCH OR CHANGE ANY OF THEM). Turned my blazer back on and everything is back to normal:dunno:. Everything just works now. I guess praying to the electrical fairies works sometimes;)
