Newbie from Austin, Texas

Hey guys, newbie from Austin, Texas and I know there's a few Sy/Ty owners here in town but I've met only one so far.

Like Jimmy, I search the salvage auctions for Sy/Ty/SGTs too. I used to have a classic car salvage yard in Ohio. Still have a Syclone that was rolled.

I have a 1991 S10 Blazer Sport 4 door 4x4. I hope I can be of help here since I've done quite a few mods to it.

I've added:

-A factory analog 1988 tach cluster
-An auto-dimming rear view mirror with compass (recently stolen)...
-A Driver's Info System from an Olds 88 (needs finished)
-A chime module from a 1994 Cutlass Supreme that not only is better sounding than the original chime module, but it automatically locks the doors at 9MPH, goes off if I leave the turn signal on for too long and it dings 3 times when the "check gages" light comes on.
-An interior light shut off switch
-1970s Trans Am steering wheel
-A window lock out switch
-All window down module from an Oldsmobile convertible, if I tap the rear window switches on the master, all 4 windows go down at the same time
-I'm in the middle of adding Retained Accessory Power
-Next up will be an overhead console with working HomeLink

All in all, not bad for $400 and the A/C works!

Wow an all window down module from a Cutlass convertible and a tach cluster from an '88 Blazer. That's funny that you used those parts my family has had both of those cars. My parents bought a Cutlass convertible new in '93 and the '88 Blazer was used by my brothers and myself. I especially miss the Cutlass.

Thanks guys.

powercat - I miss my Cutlass in some ways, but not others. I don't miss the DOHC 3.4 or the fact that I had to work on it EVERY DAY to keep it running.

I added a HUD to it...I lost interest in it when some 'neighbours' keyed it and slashed the top out of jealousy and then I ended up losing my arse on it and selling it to a friend for $1000.

you need to watch this guy, he likes em big!!

on a side note I violently loathed working on those POS 3.4 DOHC. I pray I never see another one of those as long as I live. timing belts FTL

Nice Supreme, my parents' was black with black leather and it had the 3.1 L V6 so we didn't have any problems with the engine (at least that I can remember) , but some of the accessories were problematic . We had to pull the horn relay after it started randomly going off while driving. It sucks that some d-bags keyed it.

Kind of beat but plenty of potential? I am pretty sure I saw you on Burnet Road a few weeks ago at the McDs. lol

Or do you have the real nice one that hides in a garage in an apartment complex on the north side?

yeah, bought it in that condition from colorado. pretty heavily modded. could use a tune. i'll run it against anything you got. and i bought it to drive it not hide it. i'm south but travel north for parts for my shop.

I have no doubt...

The Sy was beat pretty bad...Funny, it came out of Colorado too. It is best for parts and there isn't much left to salvage besides drivetrain.

I need a Sy/Ty wheel...I want to make a coffee table out of one. :)
