i ran a megasquirt 1 with msnsextra on my 1.8 ford escort (mazda bp motor) and made 350 hp and 400 fts tq with a turbo air/water intercooler on 9:1 wasted spark and turbo cams. megasquirt is a great system just have to have the time to tune it :)

Not sure what the "other goodies" are you wanting. The dual stage rev limiter the stock ecm can' t do. Not sure how important that is.

The stock ecm can do 30psi of boost with the full tuneability you asked with just changing out the map sensor.

But if you are more comfortable with MS more power to you. I just suspect you have not fully researched what our stock ecm can and does.

im not banging it man. i know the ford eec-iv ecu can be converted to a differant firmware and tuned as well.

i was just asked how to do a megasquirt on a typhoon and im trying to figure out hte most painless way :)

Most painless way would be not to run it. Go to www.code59.org and look around. Turbodig redid some of the code and we have 512 tuneable fuel table points compared to 81 stock and it supports up to 30 PSI with a 3 Bar map. We'll give you all the help you need to get it working. Even the coil on plug can be done running an eDist by Fast or 7 tooth crank trigger. There is a thread on here about that. I just think going to MS will be a whole lot of wasted time for you. But if MS is the way you want to go.... More power to you. Good luck.

im still trying to find onfo on megasquirting the typhoon..


so far what ive read here on this thread the suggestion was leave the stock ecu for the trans and idle


ofcourse that means the ecu is going to need coolant,air temp, tach, and possibly tps still connected.

so we would add a coolant and air temp. sensor like suggested in this thread.

is there any one who has made this work well on the syclone or typhoon that i could get some pointers from??

what did you read about the stock ecu and trans. the 700 is tv cable operated and doesnt rely on the ecu for anything.

If your still not convinced , call megasquirt and ask them about your syty (installation and specific 4.3 turbo support). After that phone call compare apples to apples and see which product your most comfortable installing .

im sorry what??


im personaly looking for help understnading what all is needed. as i dont own a typhoon myself. My brother in law does and its 20 miles away at his dads house parked actualy.



the only information i have on it aoears to be completly wrong (mitchells on demand)


is the trans 100 percent mechanical no electronic control of the 3-4 shift etc...

im not saying anything negative , i just saw the trend of saying swap to code 59 . thats all , hopefully i did not come across negative.
maybe 1% of the 6000 sytys have thought about a ms system . now knowing this , you will get less people offering advice you dont want .

just trying to help you get more helpful answers .

on ebay , opie has a complete syty cd that has more info , diagrams, and schematics than youll need .

You keep going back to the manual that has proven to be wrong.

The ONLY ecm control of the trans is for lockup of TCC, thats it.

I have seen 1 person try to do MS, they gave up. Not saying its a bad system, I wouldn't mind using one on some other project at some point. For the syty it just doesn't offer much except what you have found, lots of headaches trying to get it to work.

I can make a syty ecm do what you want in less than 30 minutes if you pulled a truck I have never seen in my driveway. Wouldn't involve MS either but use 99% stock stuff.

Here is the typical deal, go to chevy dealer they will want to sell you chevy, go to ford they will tell you that you need a ford, go to shoe sales men and he will tell you all about a new pair of shoes you need and how well they will fit you, go to MS salesmen he will do the same.

Now you could say the same about me, dig, or anybody else but we gain not a single penny on either of your decisions.

If you just want to play with MS I would find another car that didn't have fuel injection or is 80's vintage. Just my 2 cents I was saving for a new pair of shoes.

i see the code59 but he was talking about ome oe else doing hte work and having to send the ecu off and then emailing back and forth for fuel map help..

i have a wide band and pyro and have megasquirted several cars. I'm not worried about it As long as i can get a good timing map, i can megasquirt or code59. personaly i perfer the easiest option.


the only thing that was bugging me about megasquirting a typhoon was the problem of the tcc control and how it works ( how the ecu decides to turn it on)
