Your recommended suspension upgrades?

Hi there

I'm about to pickup a Ty and I was wondering, does anyone have any recommended springs/shocks/sway bars to make the truck handle a little better, or feel a bit better to drive?

I was told the truck handles like that, a 15 year old stock suspension truck. :)

Well, coming from an S2000 I don't expect the handling to make me want to do any canyon runs, but I would be interested in the following:

- quicker ratio steering
- firmer ride front and back
- more precise steering feel
- less lean front and rear

Any recommendations? Nothing too fancy because if I want handling I will just drive my Supra...

zq8 steering box or agr for quicker steering ratio. Front suspension bushings also help. PST or Energy. It would be best to just upgrade to coilover. Save lots of weight by eliminating the heavy stock control arms and torsion bars.

I have heard a rear sway bar make quite difference. I have yet to do one, because I was holding out for a rear coilover suspesnsion (I have finally broken down and bought one).

I did front coilovers, ZQ8, Renz's shaft and rebuiolt the steering and it did make a difference. The Coilovers may seem expensive, but if you end up rebuild the front suspension they aren't that bad.

You may also want to do larger front brakes. Coming from a sportcar, the brakes was one the first things really scared me.

Where do I find the coilovers for sale? :)

Re: Your recommended suspension upgrades?

Hmm, I also like the looks of the coilover. Does anybody have any personal expierence with one? How does the ride compare to stock? I also like the rear swaybar. Does anybody have any expierence with that? TIA. Hijack mode "off":hijack: :rotf:

Re: Your recommended suspension upgrades?

Belltech makes a rear sway bar that helps handling. I want to say it is BEL-5520 on Summit but you'd have to search.

The ride is a little softer stock, it seem to ride flater as well. It also loses some the truck suspension feel. (jumping ness of the front) It seem to be more acurate as well (but I also redid the steering as well) The suspension also keep the nose of the truck down when launching. The biggest problem right now with my truck handling is the front is held back by my stock rear suspension.
