title says it all. i 'm removing the zq8 box as it is too tall when installed and has been the cause of my headaches with the rpm ss headers hitting steering shaft. :rant:

the zq8 is the same as the stock box dimension wise..... you need a diff steering shaft to work with the rpm headers.....

got a different shaft w/ slimer joints and everything from mike, this is turning out ot be way more of a headache than what its worth.

i believe you are talking about the manual steering box.. I think that is smaller dimension wise than the stock box or the zq8 box.

i've been over this with him for 3months now, waiting for parts, that are supposed to fix the problem, so far nothing has worked. maybe i will return them i'm not happy, i need to find a set of stock manifolds that have been ported.

well heres the lowdown:
-got a zq8 box in the truck, steering shaft hits rpm headers even after low profile steering joints are installed
-was told buy rpm that he built the headers with the stock steering box in mind, this leads me to believe that the stock box is shorter
-ckieth says stock/zq8 boxes are the same dimensions, now i'm phucked!
now what do i do, buy a set of stock ported exhaust manifolds, or buy atr / kb used headers
-i'd rather get the stock set

i know he a great guy, but nothing he has done has fixed this problem. i'm tired of waiting for parts. i'm in desperate need to get this truck out of my dads shop, its affecting his business. i'm not trying to bash him for anything, its just i can't figure out this fitment problem, i've exhausted ALL possibillites, so i HAVE to go back to the stock manifolds.

its high temp coated 304 SS. i'm not going to beat the shit out of $2250. plus it would have to be a nice dent for the steering shaft to have the proper alignment.

Also did you swap ou tthe JSM frame pads for some of the RPM frame pads, as i thought this was the problem?
Also may need to look into if your truck has ever been wrecked and , maybe the front of the frame is tweaked, or maybe the mock up truck frame was tweaked and thats why it wasnt an issue but on a non tweaked frame theres a problem?
Just throwing out ideas hear, really sucks that they wont fit.
Is it hitting where the v-band clamp is? Might be easier to make that a slip joint, or just one solid part of the header like the ATR design on the driver side header.
