never fixed it. i can assure you the truck was never wrecked. rpm and js frame pads are the same. zq8 and stock steering box have the same casting numbers just different guts.

to rectify the situation i picked up a set of ported and extrude honed stock manifolds and man they look amazing!

Mike sales a steering shaft that i think you have to use when you buy the headers. But i see you went back to the stock manifold.
good luck on your truck sale

Mike and Branden were trying to make this work for a while, I'm pretty sure that if he needed his special steering shaft it would have came up.

Header Clearance

Header Clearance

There's not much else you can do, unless you look at the firewall where the steering colum is mounted. You can remove the 4 bolts, enlarge the hole to the drivers side about 3/8" and re-drill and re-bolt the bracket to the firewall. This will give you 3/4" more room.

I did this on my 86 Blazer to get more clearance for the exhaust manifold when I put in a 5.7 TPI.

It moved the steering wheel inside the truck just a little, so it wasn't completely centered.

Here's a picture from JTR's book on S10 V-8 Conversions. Author of book is M.Knell.

the problem wasn't on the firewall but rather on the box itself.

i also have the headers and had the same problem. mike is sending me a bare set of rpm frame pads to raise the engine .250" and all will be good. i could probably get away with it as is but i'd rather have a lil more clearance. i also have nothing but great things to say about mike lee. he's a great vendor here.
