Best cv axles (half shafts)

I'm in dire need of new half shafts and was wondering if there is really any difference in the ones I see for sell or brands. Which brand is best? I've searched for up grades and realilize that I'm stuck with the factory replacements. Problem is I see new not reman. ones from $68 to $128 . Is there a difference? Is the one really worth twice the price? I have no problem paying the $128 but is it worth it? Is any brand better than the others? If so, which brand is best.
Thanks

I had mine rebuilt buy a local shop they charged me 50.00 per axle and used silicone boots and stainless steel clams, the powdercoat on the axles was another 100 total, it was 200 total to rebuild and powdercoat them

There are guys who just run the lifetime warranty AutoZone shafts with good luck.
I am still running on my stock 86k milers just fine.

There is no upgrade that I have seen other than something like what neurotic ken did. ;)

Do you have a link or any info on that upgrade?

Just put a remanufactured NAPA on the drivers side, $68 after returning the core. Salesman tells me they back them with a lifetime warranty. Hopefully I won't need to take them up on it.

Re: Best cv axles (half shafts)

If you guys can source A1 Cardone (one of the largest reman companies in the world) locally, then ask the sales guy if they carry the 66 line of axles. Our part number on the reman is 60-1000, but the brand new axle is 66-1000. These usually have better looking splines/threads (they haven't been used) and have a much tighter feel to them.

FWIW, we sell the 60-1000 for $59.99 and the 66-1000 for $69.99.

$119.99 is rape in my opinion.

Re: Best cv axles (half shafts)

If they ship it sure would be nice. Lots of guys here needing halfshafts. Heck I'd be willing to throw some extra $ in for time and trouble. Thats a smokin deal on them.
Their web site would do anything for me so maybe he'll get back to me on them.

Yeah, site is under eternal construction. :D

Yeah, we ship, but I'll hafta check with the warehouse and see if they have enough 66s to meet the demand. Let me check with my rep later today and see what I can figure out. They just started mass stocking the 66 line, so it might be a factory order.

I'd figure $10-15 to ship an axle, so if you can source one locally for around $85 or $90 or even $100, I'd pick it up. That way, if it ever went out on you, there's no shipping it to GA and me shipping one back. A lot less hassle, ya know.

Will get back to you.
